Another brick in the wall

Today I’d like to discuss a serious, important and controversial topic namely sex education in school. As far as I know, there are some educational programs devoted to sex that cover STIs, contraception, unintended pregnancy and sexual abuses, but is it enough? Sexual health topic is much wider and includes much more besides condoms, abortion and sexual infections.

I think in today’s world it is highly important to tell and teach young people not only about heterosexual relationships but also about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender issues and form their tolerant attitude towards different kinds of orientations and ways of sexual expressions in order they be able to create healthy relationships of any form.

In my opinion, it is essential to teach teenagers all aspects of sexual life - what is safe sex, what sexual techniques exist, what sex positions they may try, and of course acknowledge them with sex toys.

Please, share in comments your thoughts on this topic. Do you think sex education is needed in school? In what age it should be taught? What subjects should be included in the sex educational program? What is your view of how sex should be presented to students?

I think the physical health stuff should be taught in school but the rest such as sexual preference, positions, toys etc are too controversial to be taught in a public school setting. Can you imaging teaching teenage boys about sex toys, techniques and positions? I think the information should be available with maybe teaching/counseling on a one on one basis to avoid all the problems kids endure in an open class setting. They would never really ask questions with all their classmates around.
