To be honest I've never orgasmed with a partner, but I'm actually pretty okay with that. I do like being fucked, even if I don't reach orgasm, and it's a lot of fun to pleasure my partner(s) even if I'm not getting O's out of it. That said, these partners are usually one-night stands, so in a relationship I might find it worthwhile to teach them how I get off.
However! Partners - whether male or female - definitely are not obsolete! It comes down to personal preference and what gets you off.
