I would prefer without. I've never used a condom on him when giving him oral (or ever used a condom, really), and I can't imagine him using something like that on me. Course, we've been together a long time, so that hasn't been an issue.

I couldn't really choose any of those answers. I have used them, and yes, they do feel different and take away a bit of sensation, but I DO appreciate them. Safe sex practices are what have kept me healthy and STI-free, so while I PREFER oral without a dental dam, I've insisted that most of my partners--male AND female--use a dental dam.

I have never thought about using them but we have been together forever so as far as disease control, not an issue here. As far as taste, I would think the flavored lubes would be better. I sometimes use flavored lube when I give him head..just for the taste..

I agree that flavored lubes might be the best option too (for your girlfriend's sake). You know your girlfriend best, but if she says she doesn't mind the dental dam, then go for it! If she's already used to getting bareback oral, I highly doubt she'll consent to you using a dental dam if it doesn't satisfy her.

Use a lot of listerine before you go down on her and try a mentholated cough drop (sugar free). It always helps to have Playtex intimate wipes or baby wipes at the bedside too.

I chose "used and don't appreciate" simply because while it wasn't completely accurate, it was the closest answer. We've used dental dams on rare occasions, all of which were when I wanted oral, he wanted to give it, but I was having my period. No, it's definitely not as good as bareback oral, but if we're in the mood it's better than not getting any.
If your only issue is taste, you have two main choices (that don't involve major diet changes): block it or change it. If you're both ok with using dental dams to block the taste, then great. But you can also change it by, as people have said, cleaning her before you go down, or using a flavored lube. There are also gels and creams intended for oral sex, some of which are better tasting and safer than others. If she doesn't have a sensitivity to parabens, Cleopatra's Secret is a great flavored arousal cream (my boyfriend loves the peach flavored one).

Dams are OK, and a vital necessity for safer oral sex with casual playmates.
I have a latex allergy/sensitivity, so giving oral to something sheathed in latex, regardless of the bits in question, is a really big deal for me. Almost as big a deal as giving it unbarriered. I'm not crazy militant about safer oral sex (as in, I accept some risk) but I never, ever, ever, ever, ever go down on casual play partners. Tragically. It's just what makes me feel most comfortable.

Could be she likes it better because you are more enthusiastic while using them. My husband won't use them he loves the smell, taste, look, and feel of a pussy so using something that kills any sense takes the pleasure out of the experience for him. I've been on both sides of the dam, so to say, when I was younger and having sex that was more casual and less committed. One of the few things I have never even SEEN is a dental dam. When I was dating, they weren't available, and My Man and I are fluid bonded so I see no reason to use one.
