Mr says that for men it's a biological function. If you orgasm (with ejaculate) every day then your body gets used to the release and you then physically need to. Your body produces based on need, if you "usually" cum every day your body will have excess if one day you don't.

For us, we are on more of an every-other day schedule. Mrs keeps trying to bump it up to every day, but our schedule just doesn't really allow it. We prefer to orgasm together as opposed to me masturbating. We try to avoid that.
