I have read in some self-help books about enhancing your sex life and having more (or any!) orgasms that sometimes people can climax without realizing the sensation they have experienced was an orgasm. This can be because different orgasms may feel more intense, less intense, or involve different feelings (lightheadedness, waves of pleasure, muscle contraction of different intensity, and other such feelings).
Do you believe it is possible for someone to have an orgasm without realizing it, and maybe thinking that it was just arousal or pleasure and not actual release?

It doesn't happen to me now, but it happened to me when I first started masturbating. I was having weak orgasms, and I wasn't sure if they really were orgasms or not.
02/22/2012
Not sure, never thought about it.
02/22/2012
Maybe, this isn't something I have thought about or heard of

It happens with me quite often sometimes, I think it is when I am too easy on the exercises and my muscles aren't in such a shape, and it also happens when I have come soooooooo many times already that after a few of them I can barely tell the difference! ~lol
But yep, it can be quite frustrating, because I often do such things to rush myself with more endorphins, because it is very healthy for your body and mind and soul and just helps in being balanced and happy all the time - and when I am not sure if have really come or not then it means one more try, sometimes taking tiringly long! ~sighs ^^

I remember when I first started masturbating back when I was twelve, it took me a while before I realized what the sensation at the end was. I'd read about masturbation and orgasms, but I'd forgotten about it and it took a while for me to make the connection between what I'd read and what I was doing.
That was more due to forgetting information than uncertainty in the sensations, though. Now I always know when I have an orgasm, even when it's so weak that it barely registers (thankfully not too often). But I wouldn't be surprised at all if other people had the problem you're describing.

This. In fact, I'd say your question is opposite of what it was for me. I realized there was muscle release but didn't think it was orgasm because of lack of pleasure.

I've had orgasms that weren't pleasurable especially when learning how to masturbate. I can easily see how someone might not realize crappy orgasms are in fact orgasms.

I'm sure some people might not know.
03/01/2012
When I was just "starting out", I didn't know what to expect, and I wasn't sure that my first orgasm was really an orgasm.
But after few more times, it became more clear that that was what that was. I do feel that, for me at least, it's a pretty clear "moment" even though it wasn't 100% what I was expecting.
All people are different, but for me - right after having one, I really need to dial-down the intensity (or turn it off, if I don't want to try for another) of vibrations because things are so sensitive I can't take it.

Never happened to me! Lol. But just because mine are intense does not mean that another woman's is. I believe maybe if you're nervous or something you may not realize it? Depends, but what feels intense for one may not for another. I won't be the judge on how other women's orgasms are.

I never have this problem it is a pretty obvious sensation
03/01/2012
Sometimes the boy asks me how many I had and I can't tell.
03/03/2012
I think it's possible when you aren't really sure what it is but maybe if you experience it enough it might be something you understand.
03/04/2012
Sometimes I come but I haven't reached an emotional sensation yet. It happens, but I usually keep going.
04/03/2012
Sure, I'm sure it's possible.
04/04/2012
In the past I had alot of trouble achieving my first orgasm and even now I often wonder if I ever REALLY have, I reach peaks but I'm never sure if they're really orgasms or if theres something out there I'm missing out on.
04/05/2012
Yes, I'm sure it possible. In fact it happen to me. When I discovered non-ejaculatory orgasms I wasn't sure if what i was experience was in fact an orgasm because as I was trained to treat ejaculation as synonymous to orgasm.

Same. I think this is probably not uncommon - the first few I had were very weak - mostly just a drop in tension. It doesn't happen to me anymore, though.

I've been with a girl who constantly said she couldn't tell. She had never done anything before me so I guess that's the reason. To someone who has had more experience it was clear she did.

I don't understand how the person having the orgasm can't tell, but their partner can. Are you sure you're not just seeing what you want to see?

If the person was unaware of how his/her body worked and possibly ill informed about orgasm in general then I do belive they could miss the sometimes subtle signs of orgasm.

I've had an orgasm a few times, without knowing it and I just thought I was being pleased extremely well. Then when I tried to pleasure myself, I was too sensitive because I already had my orgasm.
When I do have an orgasm, with clitoral stimulation only, I have to be raked off the ceiling.
