buzzy vibrations and overly sensitive/irritated clitoris for a week?

Contributor: Alicia Alicia
I've recently noticed something, and I don't know if it's just something about my body or if it's something that affects other women as well. What I've noticed is that if I use a strong clitoral vibrator that is more on the buzzy side (The Fairy Miniature is the one I have noticed this most on) then my clitoris afterward becomes so sensitive that it almost hurts. It's like it feels pokey, if that makes sense. At first I thought it was all strong vibrations, and I was actually getting worried. This sensitivity will last up to a week and it got so bad at one point that if my husband would directly touch my clitoris I would flinch. I seriously thought I was broken.

After a week of no toy use, it had gone away. We thought it was a fluke and after a while of taking it easy and only using gentler toys we ended up using the Fairy Miniature again to the point that I had several orgasms and whaddaya know..extreme sensitivity after that for almost a week.

It also somehow also desensitized me at the same time I guess since it prevents me from having an orgasm from my husband giving me oral sex. This was a huge issue because I love receiving and he loves giving it, but it would just feel "ok" as compared to the amazing that it normally is. It would be like ok but not great and then if he put direct pressure on my clitoris I'd feel "pokey" and he had to stop. It got to the point that the only way I could get off was with the super strong vibrations..which were the very thing that was causing the issue in the first place.

Since then I've used the Fairy Rechargeable and the Mystic Wand rechargeable, which both offer strong but lower pitched vibrations and it's been better. Heck, yesterday I used the Mystic Wand earlier in the day and then at night we had sex and I was worried that I'd be too sensitive to get off with him giving me oral..I was absolutely wrong and it actually caused me to orgasm easier.

So, it seems to be that I can use strong deep vibrations and it'll be fine...but if I use strong higher pitched vibrations my sensitivity lasts close to a week.. is this normal to happen? I had never experienced it before, though I also until recently never tried something nearly as strong. I had had times where if I used a toy earlier that day I'd be sensitive for a few hours, but nothing that went on this long..I mean we're seriously talking a week here..that seems a bit crazy to me.

I apologize for the novel of a post!

I've experienced similar oversensitivity after intense vibrations. But wow, after even a week? Mine hasn't lasted that long. But I am definitely of you being able to orgasm from oral sex. I don't know if it's my body or it was my ex's performance, but I was never able to orgasm from that alone.

I wasn't either until my husband. That's why when it wasn't working anymore I was devestated and so was he. I seriously think it was hurting his self esteem and I was thinking my body was broken.

And yea...a week. It even felt pokey when I wiped after going to the bathroom...it was crazy. I can understand a day..but a week?? it really made me feel like my clitoris was broken!

I've never timed the lingering effects, but buzzy vibrations definitely make my body unhappy, and not just for a few hours. I wrote a review last night for the worst offender in that category -- the Rabbit Dancer -- and just thinking of that toy makes me cringe.

See, these vibrations aren't actually painful while I'm using it...in fact the toy is actually pretty damn awesome. But, it just makes it so that it's the only thing that can get me off without the pain. Like I could use the fairy miniature over and over and I mean I'd be pretty sensitive to it, but it wouldn't give me that pokey feeling. But if a tongue or finger is against my clitoris for a week afterwards it almost hurts. So I go from receiving little pleasure from oral sex to "ouch that pokes!" if the clitoris itself is actually touched. We ended up skipping a lot of the foreplay on my end or focusing more on g-spot foreplay and then during sex I used the fairy between us and got off clitorally that way.

I'm sorry the Rabbit Dancer sucked though That really sucks to have a toy that's downright painful like that! At least my fairy is nice as long as I keep using it!

Wow, thats sucks! I don't really use strong vibes life the massagers but personally, if I masturbate like crazy (2-3 hours non stop) with a regular deep vibrating type of vibe, my clit becomes quite sensitive and it gets painful to even touch it.

I know exactly what you are talking about. This happens to me as well when my clit becomes over-stimulated. It can last about 4 days for myself. It's almost like I have "bruised" it or something. Anyway, at least it goes away after a while right? The first time this happened I thoguht I broke myself. I was scared that I would have a super sensitive clit for the rest of my life.

Meh, I have many very nice toys that aren't painful at all, so it's not like I'm deprived. I've used other buzzy things that felt nice at the time, and in hindsight had the kind of effect you're talking about, although perhaps not as extreme. These days, I stick to the Jimmy Jane Little Steel (the Little Chroma, basically) for clitoral stimulation, and I find that the effect is the opposite -- I'm good for other kinds of stimulation immediately, can have multiples using it, or using it in combination with other non-vibrating toys, and am never sore afterwards.

Sorry to sound like an ad for my favorite vibe, but I'm a little in love with the thing.

Yep, it does feel almost bruised. I am definitely thankful that it does go away after a while!

Are the vibrations from the Little Chroma deep? I don't know why but I always imagined they'd be kind of buzzy..not sure why.

I am glad that I can use the Mystic Wand and be good to go right afterwards for other kinds of stimulation..the Mystic is by far my favorite of the strong vibrators that I have.

They're deep, but they don't feel as strong at first when compared to something like the Lelo Gigi. The first couple of times that I used it, I was like, so what exactly is the big deal here, it's not that strong. But it's deceptive, and once I gave it a fair shake I was really impressed. It's definitely not buzzy, but the vibrations don't feel quite like anything else I've ever used either. JimmyJane's website insists they've discovered the perfect frequency, rendering different settings unnecessary with the Little Something line, and now that I own one, I have to agree.

I actually have the Little Steel, not the Little Chroma, but they're the same vibe, and it's absolutely my favorite clit vibe by a landslide. I really need to get the Form 2 and compare, but since I'm such a fan of nice cold metal, I've been putting that off.

I have something similar going on right now... not fun at all! I'm in the market for a less buzzy vibrator- one with deeper, rumbly vibrations.
