Sensory play question

Contributor: Leil@ Leil@
My partner and I are on the light side of the sensory play. Our BDSM toy bag includes blindfolds, cuffs, fluffy ticklers. Nothing extraordinary.

I've been eyeing the Claw teaser since the Halloween 'Boo' party but am still nibbling at this idea. A new Wartenberg wheel recently added to the site turned me back to the idea of stepping up our level, but I'm still a bit scared of it.

So, I'm looking for the opinions, tips, and any other helpful info you can all share:

What does it feel like? What areas do you like to apply it to? How do you prepare for such a play? Any aftercare tips? Etc.

Thanks in advance

Sensory play is something that I love, especially Wartenburg wheels. A lot of the sensations can actually delve into fear play, which is a subsection of edge play that's all about fear - whether fear of real danger or perceived danger. Wartenburg wheels look sharp, but they're really not. They can feel quite sharp on sensitive areas, but I promise they're completely safe. I've pressed down hard on one and it hasn't even left indents in my skin before, but rolled around on the inside of my wrist makes my adrenaline spike because it feels like it's going to cut you (again, it won't). I'm pretty much always ready for fear/edge play, so I don't need any preparation. But for someone who's not into that as much as I am, I'd say to get familiar with the toy with your partner and really understand what you want from it. As for aftercare, just talking about what scared you and what you liked with your partner is a good place to start. There's a LOT that I could talk about with fear play, too much to delve into in a comment, but if you have any more questions or want to know more, then I'd love to talk about it!

What was the most sensitive area you used them on?

Probably wrists, although rolling it around on my ass was also a nice sensation. The spurs on the wheel are gentle enough to stimulate the muscles and make them twitch, which is a really cool feeling. If you're completely new to this sort of thing, then I'd try it on the outer arm or thigh. Those are both musclier places on your body, so the sensations will be dulled. Generally, using them on fattier parts of your body will cause the sensation to be heightened. I have tried it on my clit but it didn't really cause any response.

wrists?? - a bit unexpected I thought it would be somewhere on the nipples or clit.
Thanks for warning me about the fattier parts of the body. Don't want to start high

Leil@a,

Don't forget about E stim. You can start on low and slowly tease him/ her with light tickles and work up to jolts if using the ones with stickem pads.

ohhh, E-stim toys! I'm afraid my pain threshold is relatively low to enjoy these, but I don't mind keeping the controller in my hands
