Thrusting during male orgasm?

Contributor: Kestrel Kestrel
If I'm engaged in anal play with a dildo, I've noticed that when I have an ejaculatory orgasm, the sphincter muscles will contract very powerfully. This makes thrusting during the orgasm impossible, and I imagine painful if your partner tried to press the issue.

I've seen strap-on movies where the partner is able to continue thrusting through orgasm, so it seems it is possible to relax the sphincter even during orgasm. Or maybe they just use so much lube that even the sphincter tightening doesn't prevent thrusting? Anyone here able to relax the sphincter muscles during orgasm?

I have learned to relax it somewhat but not 100%, just enough to do short thrusting. I will have the wife just wiggle/rock the dildo until the spasm is over. Good lube helps but not always.

Never assume that because they do it in the movie that you can do it too.

Anal contractions are a part of orgasm, so much that there's even a patent out there for an "orgasm meter/detector" that relies on anal contractions.

A smooth, more cylindrical dildo or one with a soft surface can help, because then you don't have anything stretching the anus much. Keep in mind that there are also internal muscles that are rhythmically contracting and these affect the rectum, making thrusting difficult there as well. I agree with the short thrusting recommendations - you don't really want to limit your contractions because that makes the orgasm feel less powerful.

I've seen a similar effect when my wife is having an orgasm with a 'rabbit' style vibrator - clenching her PC muscles will almost completely stop the rotations of the shaft.

Personally I prefer that my wife continue thrusting a toy when I'm having an orgasm during anal play - but I don't own anything too large. Could size be an issue? it is for me.

Many issues, both size, positions, how your rectum is arranged, what the dildo is like (curves, textures, head design), and how deep you're going. You've really got to play around to figure out how your body and your dildos interact during an orgasm.

I find it possible to continue thrusting a dildo all the way through orgasm. It doesn't hurt at all.
