Kind of a hard one there, for the most part I use water based since most of toys are silicone. But I play a lot I the shower so silicone based is the way to go there, I just use glass and stainless toys in there.

Water: easy clean-up, thin enough to enable good thrusting but thick enough to stay in place (provided you get a good lube). Doesn't mess with rubber.

Oil: stays around well, can be thicker (good for big, slow moving toys).

Downsides: Water: for me the big one is preservatives. Many water-based lubes cause a burning feeling. They also dry out and are more likely to "squeegee" off.

Oil: Can mess up rubber/latex/jelly. Hard to clean up, can mess up fabrics.

Have only tried water based, seem to work well for me.

We use silicone for me because I prefer glass and metal - so no material conflicts with silicone. We use oil-based for vaginal lubrication for my wife - so we also use it for anal play as well.

None, please. I hate the feeling of lube there. I've never had problems not using lube for anal play.

Using Aneros products or other serious anal play almost call for the thickest possible lube. That is why Maximus is my favorite choice.

I prefer water-based. Silicone is pointless due to all the silicone toys I have, and I just don't like oil-based much. I usually use Sliquid's Sassy.

I wanna try silicone base to use w/ my glass toys. Water-based lubes on glass toys seem not to work that well for me. But I like that there's no need to clean up anything after using water-based lube

We simply have too many expensive toys that could get ruined. We are all WATER BASED here now. Some thick, some thinner. Even our anal lubes are all water based and do fine. The ONLY place we used to have silicone is in the bathroom, so we could play in the shower, but we are finding a few good water based lubes that, if placed before showering, with a LUBE SHOOTER, into her tush, work just fine. No silicone mess needed.

We use Gun Oil the most which is silicone. However, if you're going to use water-based, I only recommend Maximus and nothing else.

Silicone can be great, but you need to be careful with fabrics and around some toys (some silicone lubes can bond with some silicone toys). Clean-up is the big thing with me - silicone lube is just too much work.

Water based typically but if were in the shower then silicone works better. I find that Maximus works even in the shower as long as were not directly under the water.

Silicone lubes almost always feel thicker to me and therefore better.

What silicone lubes have you tried? All of the ones I have tried have seemed thinner, more like vaginal lubes than anal (the consistency of thick oil).

We've only ever used water-based because we mainly have silicone toys

I prefer silicone when possible, but I can't use it that often as I have mostly silicone toys.
