Ugh, I'm kind of pissed off about this (my order from yesterday got changed to UPS also). I was on a time schedule for my assignments, so I chose USPS to get here ASAP. I wish they had of warned us sooner...
UPS SurePost is now being tried for USPS deliveries.....

I, too, was shocked to see my package tracking show up as UPS. My package is listed as being in Mesquite TX and has been for 3 days. I HATE this, it is adding a lot of time to the delivery! Why, oh why did they start this???

I agree. I am hoping there is an opt out/USPS only option soon. I am going to just have to do the weekly deal for next day UPS on my future orders until this gets figured out.

Well, I got my package today. It only took one more day than it normally would have had USPS shipped and delivered it. I'm not going to complain too much because it was free shipping. But I would have a problem had I paid the $5 something to have it shipped USPS and it was shipped UPS SurePost instead.
I can understand if it's cheaper for the company... but I'm not going to pretend that I'm not an impatient person who is disappointed with the shipping method.

I hope that, after this trial period, there is at least the option to use Pure UPS or Pure USPS again. I can totally understand if EF wants to use SurePost as their free shipping method if it's cheaper (and, I mean, they're sex toys, not prescription medications or anything, so except under special circumstances an extra long delivery will be okay for us.) But I hope that we are at least given the option to pay for shipping and have one of the old standard shipping methods available again, for those of us with living circumstances that favor one method or the other.

When I live in the city, UPS and USPS are pretty equivalent (and SmartPost only added one day to my delivery time), but when I live in the country, UPS is much much slower due to their nearest sorting facility being practically a day away. I can only see that being worse in a SmartPost application, because the USPS sorting depot is half-a-day away in a different direction...
Anyway... it's EF's choice how to do free shipping. But I hope, at the end of the trial period, people are given the option to pay for USPS shipping again if that's what's easier for them.

I was expecting a package today for review, when it did not show up I checked online. Only to find out that it is now going to be delivered next Thursday. Over a week after I placed the order. I was expecting to have time this weekend to test it out and get a good feel for a review.

I can see through reading this thread that different shipping methods are preferred depending on the area and living circumstances of the individual, I had never really thought about all of that before!

I totally get trying out something new to see if it works, I just wish I'd known about the change when I ordered so I could have picked something different. If it had said UPS SmartPost instead of UPS Ground, I would have clicked 2nd Day Air instead. I think just keeping people informed would save a lot of confusion/frustration over the change.

I was wondering what was up because I always pick USPS because all my mail goes to my PO box, but the tracking was telling me it was UPS. I honestly HATE UPS and all my packages are going to be late. I have two coming that I would have had today (if they came USPS all the way), but with UPS, the tracking says I'll be lucky if I get 'em by the end of next week. Which sucks even more because one is a free assignment and the other a buyout of things I've been wanting for forever. On top of that I should have a replacement for my Salsa going out sometime and who knows when I will get that if it goes UPS Surepost. I seriously hope everything goes back to the way it was because I prefer USPS over UPS any day.

You are SO lucky. I have no idea what the delay is, unless it is because I live in a small, rural town, but my normally 2-3 day shipment will be here a week late. I understand that these are not necessities, but would have combined the orders and gotten the free next day shipping if I had known about that big of a delay. I had things for the weekend in one, not too big of a deal, but also have gifts for a going away party I have to attend tomorrow.

I haven't shipped USPS since Surepost came into play. I'll be interested to see if things actually get to me quicker.
I live in a very remote town, ~400 miles from anything you'd call a city. It's difficult to get in or out of here by any mode of travel most of the year (treacherous weather is our game). Between the distance, weather, and lack of post offices, USPS packages NEVER arrive on time. Ever. 3-5 day shipping can take up to two weeks. 7-10 day shipping? Hah.
For some reason, UPS is lightning quick by comparison. Maybe they'd speed up USPS for me?

(It really seems like each of the three major shipping options is equivalent in cities, but in different rural parts of North America each has definite strong areas and weak areas. It's good that there are three options so consumers can make the best choice for their living situations. As I see it, if SmartPost becomes an additional option, rather than replacing UPS' slower-than-overnight and the USPS options, then things will only be better! If it replaces those options, though, I see a lot of people getting frustrated.)
03/19/2012
Whaaaaaaat!?!?!? This is terrible! Here in Arkansas, UPS (ground) always takes MUCH longer than USPS (standard). I always go with USPS if given the choice. This is a very unfortunate development.

I live in a very small, rural town as well and I would have had my packages by now through regular USPS instead of the end of the week with UPS. Hopefully things get ironed out and we can choose just USPS and get it that way again. It all just seems like an unnecessary step to go UPS then USPS because everyone where I live HAS to get their mail at the post office. We've only had house numbers for the past few years to aid in 911 calls and such. We do get UPS/Fed Ex deliveries to houses, but that's only in the cases of extremely large deliveries or places that refuse to ship to a PO box (though honestly, some of those deliveries still go to the post office anyway).

My package arrived at a sorting facility an hour away from my house early this morning. The ETA is still Thursday, though it would have been delivered today with regular USPS, but I'll be damned if it takes that long just be delivered an hour away.

Hey, gang! We’ve been following the forums, received all the tickets, and listened to all the voicemails about the changes. We want you to know we are listening, and we have some more information about what’s going on with the new service, and what that means for EF.
UPS sold us on their new system Mail Innovations and SurePost. This is a blended service between UPS and USPS; UPS handles mass-transit extremely well, USPS has the benefit of rehearsed routes with carriers who are versed in specific circumstances when it comes to delivering a package to a recipient on their route. We have been inspired by Amazon and BestBuy to try this new economical service. We need to explore the service to make sure that not only is it economical for us (which means more goodies for you!), but meets the standards of service for you in terms of delivery. We ask for your patience because if this service is something we can get to work with us, with you, and with all of EdenFantasys at large, it means so many rewards for everyone down the road.
As we test this service, the delivery calculator will still be available, but should not be taken as a guarantee. We are looking at a blended service between UPS and USPS services, which means this can throw the calculator off. The calculator will be adjusted as we explore this new service, but we at customer service highly suggest checking in with us by support ticket or phone call if you would like an estimate. This is more than extended for situations such as whether or not you’re working within a time-line; we can give you the best advice possible to make sure you meet that deadline!
Should the service be determined insufficient not only for us, but for our EF Family, we’ll be discontinuing the service and reverting to the initial services.

How does SurePost work for tracking? Do we use the UPS website? The USPS website? Both?

If you have an assignment that effected by this, don't worry! Since we're trying this out, we totally understand if a review takes an extra day or two to get in.
If it's getting REALLY long in the shipping, let us know that your assignment hasn't showed up yet and we'll take it into consideration with assignments.

Hopefully there's a way to choose just USPS in the future if this blended delivery method is kept. I can see how this might be useful for city dwelling people, but this way definitely doesn't seem to be working well for those people outside cities (especially us rural folk). I still haven't received my packages (one buyout and the other a free assignment, plus a replacement for a damaged item). Through USPS, I would have had them on Saturday and yesterday, now every time I check the tracking page for SurePost, it keeps adding a day on to the delivery. As for the Expedited Mail Innovations which my free assignment went through, that has been stuck sitting in Ohio for days and I *might* get that at the end of the week if I'm lucky (a week since it was ordered).
Even if this SurePost thing is kept, I sincerely hope there's an option for straight USPS deliveries. I have a few orders that I'd like to place right now, but I really don't want to because I still haven't received my others yet and I don't want to go through this quessing game with the delivery.
