Updates on the Site

Contributor: Sir Sir
Would it be possible to have a discussion post or a newsletter saying what the upcoming updates are? It would make things a lot easier to keep track of. Maybe a list of what will be happening soon, when it will be happening, and if unknown, a "TBA" status on that update. With all of the updates lately, it would make things easier for the contributors to know what's going on and to also give suggestions.

I think this would be a good idea as well, so that it keeps things a little more organized and all in one place!

I know Gary usually posts a list of changes and updates, usually when or immediately after they go live. I believe he makes sure that particular post shows up on the Community News page under News and Announcements.

I will, however, pass along the suggestion for announcement of updates beforehand.

i think sometimes some smaller changes are made that have a bigger impact on us as users/contributors than you folks may realize. Gary usually covers the big details in a timely manner, I've noticed, but.. for instance, when the product review search page got the new button options for EF Sponsored or other company sponsored, it confused some people.

I meant before updates are actually released on the site, so that contributors are aware of what will be happening. Because I know of a lot of things currently that I doubt many people know of, like the ability to vote on your own reviews, flagging reviews, etc.

That's tough to predict, because the time-lines for things are sometimes fluid and some things get tweaked right before launching... I think asking our programmers to write up a list of what is in the works and the details of how it will work would be difficult. I am sure the list would never really be totally complete too - because there's just too much going on internally. I am torn about this one - considering we announce pretty much everything we are told about. Having an upcoming updates newsletter, if it was partial, might be feasible. Just a big picture of things we are planning, might be cool. And announcing more small changes should be considered too.

We did discuss the contributor search on the Review Products Search Options. The updates happened less than 24 hours after the thread was started so I posted about the update here rather than starting a new thread about the same thing.

I understand. Although, we may not always look in a contributor-created thread for answers. Would it be feasible to have a "new this month" sort of look-back at changes big and small?

That's not a bad idea at all! Normally I mention the news and updates each week in the Review Roundup, The last week of the month I could do a recap.

I hadn't noticed, tbh. I gave up on those posts a long time ago. I just can't keep up. LOL I would be more apt to look at a thread specifically detailing the news.

I have been trying to do a recap of what all went on through the week in the Roundup, as well as talking about the reviews for the week... and of course the 5 picks.
