Stupid Question - little hearts?

Okay, I've been wondering this for a while and finally decided to ask:

What to the little hearts beside the names and forum post topics *do*? They turn green when you click them. Does that.. give the person or topic points from being awesome or something? Obviously it means you like something, but I was just curious as to if it affected our rating or was just for our own personal bookmarking.

The *hearts* are useful to *bookmark* your favorite topic (yellow heart) or your favorite author (green heart). Once you mark someone or something with the *heart* you can easily pull it on top later on to track the progress of the topic or to see what your fav author published. To do this, you will need to click on the *heart* symbol in the first row and it will bring your hearts to the top of the topic list.

Just a favourites option. right now it does not seem to have much functionality but I do believe you can unfav someone/thing should you so choose.
