Just in time for ChanuXmasKwanzaaHappyN ewYear Time, not to mention all those Sag/Cap people out there with birthdays coming up (hey, springtime conception is the natural order of things, there’s a lot of us winter babies in the world), we have a new gift registry feature!
It’s designed offer identity protection for both the recipient and the giver. (OK, so we might have gone a little overboard on privacy protection, but that’s better than ignoring it, no?)
This is actually an extension of your wish list, if you maintain one. You must have a contributor profile to create a wish list/gift registry. Your public profile will be viewable to anyone you share your gift registry link with.
To activate a gift registry, simply go to your wish list page and click on ‘activate gift registry’ in the left column. To complete this, you’ll need to enter a current shipping address (even if that info is already in your contributor profile). You can then share your wish list/registry with anyone by simply sending them a link.
When someone buys something for your from your registry, they will only see your public profile name and the shipping state. Conversely, you will only see that information for them—no personal details are shared in either direction. Purchase/shipping confirmation emails will be sent to the relevant party, but as a discrete piece of information. Now, I know that it’s likely that you’ll know each other, but this way it’s also entirely possible to give gifts more anonymously.
