#AskEden - What prompted the Explicit generic image?

Contributor: dv8 dv8

I've noticed that some books now have a generic "Explicit" image for the product images. Other books only show the back cover or the table of contents instead of the front covers. What prompted the recent change? Other products instead have an EdenFantasys fig leaf over any "naughty" parts. Besides, the Position of the Day books only have cartoon drawings on their front covers.

I've inquired about this because someone else brought it up and I'm waiting for an answer. I'll let you know when I find out.

That's a good question, I was curious myself.

This new book doesn't show the front cover. Searching the web for the book shows that the front cover displays only a tiny bit of butt crack. A fig leaf could cover that up.

Then again, what's the problem? A realistic dildo is more explicit than a tiny bit of butt crack. Also, Sexis and various discussion topics are very sex-positive and the anti-nudity seems contrary to that environment.

I agree completely with you. A veined, extremely realistic dildo, or the lower portion of a woman's torso sculpted with silicone or whatever... that's okay, but a picture of a naked woman, even if its only showing breasts isn't? I doubt that anyone who is open enough have a profile on this site, own sex toys, and talk about them openly here in the forums is going to mind a bit of nudity.
Besides that, the types of books that are sold on this site aren't pornography from what I've seen. They're mostly educational or artsy like the Suicide Girls tabletop book. The images on the front of them may have nudity, but it's usually tasteful.
Even if a book had an erect penis stretching across the whole cover, I wouldn't be offended, or even mind enough to complain. I understand that some people are more conservative than others... but this is a social site built into an online sex shop. You should expect nudity, right?

I've been wondering the same thing. Why bother with censorship on a site that's for 18/21+ and geared towards sexual stuff anyway?
