this site is so disappointing. poor quality reviews abound - for well over a year. nothing much is forthcoming from EF to keep the community together. the free monthly assignments are only given to new reviewers. and all the wonderful people who come onto the site & then leave for various reasons, including disappointment w/ EF, are missed by the community & friends, at least.

what about you? how do you feel about EF? share your thoughts w/ us.

I use to really enjoy hanging out in the forums and writing reviews for both free items and ones I purchased myself. Unfortunately after the big shakeup it seems like the community was completely abandoned. No new forum activity, no responses to assignment requests and not many new reviews. I still come back to check things out now and then, but to be honest I haven't made many recent purchases here because there isn't anything special or any new reviews to draw me back.

Hang on, I'd like to state that there is forum activity. It probably isn't at the level it used to be at and I admit there needs to be much more activity but it certainly isn't completely dead.

I'm a newer member and wasn't around during the heydays of the past so I'm not completely sure what the O.P. means with respect to all the issues raised. My only issue with the forum section is the I'd like to see more participation. This is not meant as an attack, snipe at others or anything negative like that. I just wanted to add my $.02.

I would love to be able to contribute like I used to with reviews, but I waited since July 4th and only just recently canceled it because no one responded at all. I'm actually shocked at the wait.

The forum is still active, but nothing like it used to be, even I don't come on as often now that I have a daughter.

If this thread is for people to vent at EF, I don't know what good that going to do.

You, yourself and others in the past tried very hard to keep the forum going. Many of us know that and give your kudos for that. You also encouraged new members. You started tons of threads/discussions. You also tried to help new reviewers by pointing out details they omitted. I'm sure, many learned from that. I for one, did learn from you.

In many relationships one side is not able to keep the other happy and content. Many times it is neither of their faults. They end up splitting up. Often one side/both are bitter. Most find their way again though.

Anyway, as your said," safe supportive, freely and no sniping or attacking," these are my 4 bits.

We enjoy our buyout discounts, take advantage of them and gladly do reviews for them. I don't see better deals than that out there for everyday people.

The big time bloggers get items to review in exchange for honest reviews.

For us common folks EF comes thu.

I've just come back myself to EF and the forum. I'm hoping to connect with others, get back involved in reviewing and everything that made this site so wonderful in the past.

I feel like EF can be a little difficult to follow. When I was new here, I was so excited for the opportunities that EF seemed to have waiting for me.
However, I found it harder and harder to figure out what to do next which is what created my hiatus.
I'm back now and trying to get into the affiliate program as well as the EF bloggers program. Is it worth it?

This used to be a very inviting, exciting, active site for all thoughts and opinions. So many people sadly left when the point use rules changed (which I really understand). However, a fair number of those left did nothing more then "snipe" and post nasty responses to any idea or opinion that didn't conform to their own ideology or belief. Then came the personal attacks (always the way, when people fail to have any kind of logic to their argument). The Forum became a chore, and not fun at all at that point and we, like many other long time contributors, left.
My husband and I used to enjoy spending time here and it was a fun turn on to read the many fresh posts daily. I am pretty sure that unique mix and balance is gone for good. It was a one time "flash in the pan".

I sometimes check in, just to see what is going on, but usually it is "not much". My husband doesn't even bother looking at the site with me anymore. He says "it's not a turn on to you now, it's a headache and turn off". That, again sadly, may say it all.

We still look here to shop for toys (and we do that together), but one big advantage of this site over others was the quality of the reviews, and those too have slipped, as you note.

I am new to the forum and hoping that lots of great discussions get started again I'm always looking for that next great thrill to add to our bedroom! Plus, the looks my husband has been giving me lately are priceless. He's not sure what to think of the things coming out of my mouth lol. I'm still trying to get him to take me seriously he thinks I'm joking half the time.

I just came back after taking a long break due to medical issues, and I am surprised at the state of things. I used to brag about this site to my friends, and they would say things like "Oh, did you get a new toy from your site again?" They all knew I was excited to try products out and review them thoroughly and honestly, and if I was with a partner at the time, they would help with feedback if possible. Reviews were quick to be acknowledged, edited, and posted, and assignments came fairly regularly, as long as I was an actively participating member. Posted reviews, that were easy to read and trust, were a common occurrence, so it was easier to confidently purchase products for myself [and partner(s), friend(s), etc.], which I did often.

Now, I'm concerned that my recently written review(s) will take a long time to process, and may not be edited properly before being posted (reflecting negatively on me, as well as the product). There doesn't seem to be enough "seasoned" people reviewing products and editing reviews. I'm a bit less trusting of the reviews on products, because I fear that they are not being edited in the same way that they used to be. A lot of the reviewers that I had come to rely on are gone, leaving people who are much newer to product reviews in their place. (Not that there is anything wrong with new reviewers.... Hi New People! Welcome!)

Has everyone (especially Mentors) moved on? If so, where to? Are there still people editing reviews and assigning products? Someone please let me know!

I actually do edit reviews, as well as write my own reviews. The quality of editing shouldn't affect rather or not you trust the review. I personally edit everything I publish, and aim for a high quality of standard with all my own reviews. When the author of a review takes the time to make sure that their grammar is correct, it saves a lot of time in regards to getting the review posted quickly. The more we need to edit a review for grammar and spelling the longer it takes to publish it, which can be an issue when time is limited. There are also limits on how many reviews of each type we can edit per day (full review and follow up reviews).

I would like to be a mentor, however the program is currently closed to new mentors and most of the old mentors seem to have either left or not be taking on my classes.

Hi back at you. I'm not a newbie but not an oldie either.


Welcome back and I hope you can contribute so others will also return. Like anything else learning how to do something takes time and practice. I was drawn here by good reviews, but of course some not so good. When buying a product, we would read as many reviews here and other places.

I thought the editors only checked for grammar etc, not how reliable info was. For that one might need to read in between the lines or look for other reviews until satisfied to make a purchase.

Anyway, I hope you can work with everyone and help rebuild this place.
