Comments Section on Product Pages

I'm really confused what the comments section on Product Pages is. Before EdenPoints were initiated, it seemed to be an area where those who didn't want to write a full review could still rate and give their reasoning. And I liked that.

After EdenPoints, it now seems to be a gathering of "Oh! I like this product!" in order to gain points. What is the actual intention of the Comments section? I've always been curious.

I think you are correct in that the original intent was for people to rate products and give a quick comment rather than having to write a full review. However, I think another unforeseen result of the points program is just as you describe, people leaving basically unhelpful comments with the interpretation that it is being done simply for points. To be honest, I don't even really look at the comments anymore since pretty much every product has at least one full review.

The only time I leave a comment on a product is when I feel like I have something useful to share about either the product specifications or its functionality or quality.

The comment section was pretty much ignored for a while. I'm glad people are putting comments on products; if the review is a little skimpy, the comments can flush it out a bit better.

I haven't noticed this too much. Once or twice. But I see where you're coming from.

I would probably use the comments if I owned it but didn't want to write a full review because I was feeling lazy. LOL.

I leave comments when I feel like sharing something, whether it has to do with the actual toy or whether it appeals to me. I don't think everything that is being done more is simply for points. The whole point of the point system is to get people more involved here, is it not? So why is it a bad thing that people are becoming more active? I can understand if there is a lot of senseless banter, but I am one of the people that leave a comment, ooh that looks cool. Oh I am going to add that. If I feel like it. I am starting to get scared of being active on here just for the fact that I don't want people to think I am doing things "just for the points." Spammers for points is a different story, but IMO the comment box is there for just that: comments.
