We have pulled together existing and new features to make this page – here is an overview of each section:
News and announcements
These are announcements regarding the community, changes and anything that you should know about. I choose threads to be featured in this area and they show up here and in the forums.
Review Spotlight
It’s like a review roundup for the toy categories! This is a better way to roundup too, because it relates directly to the product and the review. I choose a review for the category and write a little witticism to introduce it in the Spotlight – these shows up here and on the category pages throughout the website.
Top 10 reviewers
No more ‘Top 5’ – now we feature the ‘Top 10’! The ‘All reviewers’ and ‘Just joined’ features are available, just as before.
Upgrade Requests
A major change! Reviewers still have to submit at least two (2) reviews of products they’ve already tried, but when they submit a request for upgrade, they have to make a personal statement to introduce themselves and explain why they want to be an Advanced Level reviewer. Then they instantly go up on the Community Homepage for votes. Upgrade requests are then decided by the community over a 2 week period. Only Advanced Level contributors are able to vote. Requesters still need to receive at least 5 votes to be approved for Advanced Level. Votes are based on writing quality and overall activity. As soon as they receive 5 votes, they are automatically upgraded and move into the ‘congratulations’ section of the Upgrade Requests area.
If a requester does not receive sufficient votes in the 2 week period, the upgrade request is removed and the reviewer will be able to submit a new request after they have submitted at least 2 more reviews. This gives those who do not get enough votes the opportunity to improve their reviews and become more active in the community.
Reviews
All the most recent reviews...including the Follow Up reviews!!! A great improvement! And even better, Follow Ups are easy to spot – because they have the little symbols for ‘I like it more’, ‘I like it the same’, ‘I don’t like it anymore’ and so on. Very cool. Now you can clearly show what became of your love affair with some of your past toys.
