Yes...Its another forum suggestion from Bulma.

I was wondering if the message box in the forums were going to be updated? I would really like something similar to the message boxes for comments on reviews. I would also love it if a spell check were added to both the forums and the comment message boxes. I don't really like to have word open and copy and paste back and forth to make sure my spelling isn't off.

Just hoping this was already in the works. Maybe there will be a huge redesign of the forums? That would be great. Anyways, thanks for tolerating me everyone!

I don't know if this helps you at all for now, but if you use firefox, it has a built in spell checker on everything (comment boxes, emails, forums, g-chat, etc)...so it might be worth checking out, so you have it everywhere on every site (and yes, you can get firefox for macs too!)

I agree. A redesign of the forums would be nice. The main thing, which you already suggested, would be for posts not to get lost. Another thing would be for us to be able to "monitor" certain posts and get emails when people respond to them. Right now I'm kinda keeping my distance from the forums because I don't want to get into discussions with people and then have to bookmark the page and come back.

AND to further integrate the forums with the rest of the reviewer stuff, it would be cool if our reviewer pages listed our recent forum posts!

That would be great! Very helpful if someone is keeping track of certain reviewers contributions.

Also I think having more options and features in the message boxes, might make it better for shoppers looking for advice, or just browsing. Maybe they would be more inclined to post and ask questions if it was a little more user friendly.

Over all, I love the forums for being so helpful to newcomers, or people who are just curious and have a question.

What kind of features are you imagining? I definitely agree that the forums need some work... am curious about how messaging works out (or doesn't) for people, since I don't use it from the external end.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm imagining a more traditional form format, with threads that stay current as long as there are new replies to them, and hopefully also messages to the original poster whenever someone replies... anything else?

That sounds great. One thing is that I would like more options for messages. Links work most of the time, but I have had one that just showed up as the address. It would be great to be able to link a word(s) like I can do when posting comments to reviews Just to be more user friendly, plus it would look sleeker. The option to edit past posts would be great too. In case someone spelled something wrong, or posted some incorrect info, they could just go back and edit their original post.

I really think having a section on the public profile with something like "see my contributions” or "my posts" would be pretty great. For example if I read one of "random reviewer" reviews and think, "wow! she knows her stuff!" I could just go to her profile and click on a link with abbreviated posts and links to the forum thread where it was posted. That way I could go through and read all of her different advice. This would be particularly great for people who followed someone over from their blog. It would also be useful to have a section under the contributor tab to manage and edit posts. If I started a thread, it would be really helpful to have that thread listed in the contributors area and have an updated link on it that would show if there were new posts in that thread. Something like “0 new comments” below the thread title would be fine. For something like that, emailed alerts would probably just junk up a persons inbox really badly. An option for turning emailed alerts on or off would still be great though.

I am hoping that the forums pick up more volume. There are more people being active in here, but I can see it increasing. I think this is a great feature that eden has over “other” sites.

I would also like to see some sort of ratings and number of posts next to every user, so, it is much easier to realize who's a real "veteran" contributor in here and who just drops by every now and then for a chat.
