I might be missing this somewhere or maybe it's already been suggested but it would be great if these icons were hyperlinks to the other products in that particular Top whatever to compare them.

The top rated is what you are looking for. And once on each product page you can compare them by adding them to the comparison.
I do like your idea though. You might want to post it in the build a better eden thread.
