I was thinking about this earlier today. We have had about four items that went out of stock just before we planned to place an order. So here we sit, waiting and waiting and waiting. Three weeks later and they are STILL out of stock! Yikes!

I was wondering, what do you think about putting something in place that maybe said "Will be in stock by xxx date". ??

This way you can plan your orders accordingly. Maybe you have other things IN STOCK but are waiting on something else to come in. Well, if you wait too long for the one item, the other ones that WERE in stock might go out of stock by the time you are "ready" to place your order! THen you're waiting again!

So, I was thinking-what about this "Will be in stock by..." This would save a LOT of messages from being written with the support tickets. This way those folks don't have to keep running to their stock managers asking "When is this going to be in....." all the time. And of course, saves us from having to wonder/wait for messages to be returned!

Good idea? Yay? Nah?

I think it would be a good idea, but it might be more complicated than that. What if EF isnt sure when they will receive more of the item? Perhaps an expected back date? It would make ordering easier. I have bought items that were a substitute for the item I really wanted only to have the more desired item back in stock 2 or 3 days later. I would have waited had I known!

It sounds like a good idea to me. I'm not sure how much extra work this would create for EF though. If a forum moderator sees this thread, maybe they can give us some input.

I think that's a good idea. I get so frustrated waiting. Something I had in my cart last night disappeared right before I could check out and was sold out! It may be more work but a little "buy now, stock limited" like on Amazon could be something to consider too.

I was just going to say the same thing. An alert about low stock would be very helpful too.

This is a great idea as well! "Low Quantities" or something. Maybe in red bold letters next to "Buy now" button or something?
