Forum Poll.. stuff

Don't even know what to call this. Heh.

Right now, if I organize the forums by latest updates, polls jump to the top when there are new votes. Is there a way to differentiate new votes vs new posts?

I click the polls a lot and realize there's no actual new posts. I guess I don't really care about new individual votes as opposed to posts.

And on the topic of polls, can I suggest that when someone creates a poll about a sensitive subject that you make it anonymous if you care about getting accurate results? People will choose not to vote rather than have their name will appear next to a choice that might make them look bad.

I try to keep track in my head of how many actual posts there were but, yanno, I'm old. That doesn't always work so well. Heh.

I have a feeling no one plans on submitting their results here to Psychological Bulletin or anything like that

It's still an extremely valid point.

I think I agree. I can see why they set it up the way it is now, but it really clutters up the forums.

The regular polls don't bother me when they show up but the comparative discussions are somewhat bothersome because 1) I don't thoroughly read them as much as other posts and 2) there are tons of questions in there that could be bumping it to the top. So, I'm kind of half in support of this idea to separate them, but I usually just bypass the comparative stuff unless I've already been reading it. Do the alerts not work just for posts? I don't use them for the forum but if it's a big bother to go through the polls, maybe set alerts for the important stuff.

I think you make a good point. The comparisons are the worst ebcause if there is a new post, I don't even know where to look.

All I really want is a little icon or something to indicate whether the new activity is a post or vote.
