Contributor: Badass Badass
If Eden had a recycling program where you could send them your old toys and they would be disposed of properly.. would you use the program?

Ooops! Just as I clicked my page jumped, I meant to select maybe.

It's kind of a difficult thing to set up, though. What with needing space to store them and then getting them recycled properly. I think there's a pretty good reason there are only one or two places that offer this kind of service.

We have looked into this extensively in the past and have been unable to to secure a real, legit recycling arrangement.

Then there are those of us who are international! Wouldn't we have to pay for shipping to ship it back...? Erm speaking of, how does one find out where to properly recycle unwanted toys?

If it were possible, sure

If I had any toys I would be totally sure about not wanting anymore and couldn't sell it or give it away (for example because of the unsafe material, or because it has totally died and I couldn't get a replacement or refund because it wasn't ordered from here) then sure - I just don't like the idea of throwing it into the trash, because toys are made of different materials, some are biodegradable, and some are not - the more separated the materials are the better I feel about it... ^^

I'm not sure....as long as they weren't being made into new toys...that just freaks me out a little even if recycling sites say their stuff is safe...

SOunds pretty iffy. It's nice to see that the people at EF have already been looking into it, though.

I had started research on this and will pick it back up in May when school is over. I'm trying to compile info from leading manufacturers about why their items don't have a recycling code on them and what could be done to have this happen - guidelines ect.

I probably would. I'd lug a massive suitcase filled with toys that are broken or no longer used back to North America (can you imagine the looks at customs??? NEAT!!!) and ship them.

But for the time being? If one breaks, I take a knife to it, remove the motor/battery and take that to the electronic stores for recycling. That is the best I can do here in China. Although the shop keeps still wonder what a girl is doing with all these bummed out motors.

I jsut pretend I don't speak the language!

when a toy breaks I will usually try to salvage any parts that I can for other toys/ projects. the battery boxes that are controllers are kept if I liked the functions and a headphone jack is added to make it compatible with other toys. motors and wires are striped out and used for general electronics projects. any leftover material is broken up and sorted by type and then properly recycled .

It depends what you mean by recycling but yeah there are some things I never use that could be sent along to add space to my storage.

yes, in a heartbeat. I am big into recycling, especially with plastic, metal, glass, and electronics.
