Should EF let you block people?

Contributor: Falsepast Falsepast
I find that there is ONE single person in the entire community that I don't like. I don't want to name them or say why but if I could just block that ONE person a bunch of stress would be lifted.

Do you think Eden should allow you to block people?

Do you have anyone you'd block? (Please don't name them)

*lol* I do have a person or two that I prefer not to see around here. I do not follow them, and I avoid reading their reviews or forum posts as much as possible.

For me, it isn't so bad that I need to block them though. They don't really comment on any of my stuff that often, and have never been uncivil towards me, nor I towards them.

What do they do? If they send inappropriate messages you can report that. EF does not allow any type of harassment!

Most people here have been really really sweet! The meanest thing anyone has done here to me is ignore me. I'd say that is no big deal at all! But if your having problems just ask for some help!

I wish we could block people. At the moment, I have no real reason too though, except for not wanting to see a few people who keep spamming the forums and all that.

How can someone here "stress you"? Just ignore their posts. Everyone is anonymous and so NO ONE should feel any stress, anger or anything else, at another member.

The difference between "posting a contrary opinion" and "spamming" is a tough call. If I had to err, it would be on the side of freedom of speech. It is what makes EVERYONE feel welcome here and indeed, offers a wide variety of people types. An amazing online community, really.

Bingo. This site seems to have a lot of very good hearted, open people.

Like Emerlyn and Zombirella are saying there are a few that I would like to block their forum threads but other than that there is only one I would not like to see around. They just rub me the wrong way. No big deal though, I just don't read what they have to say.

yeah but I think they meant the same thing that I've noticed. The 5 or 6 posts within a 2 minute time frame with only minimal words for the title and topic. There are some that are definitely just people who probably wait to post a bunch of ideas all at once, but then some, are clearly just spam.

I think that this should be an option. While I'm fine with ignoring posts and such, and there is no one in particular I feel I need to block at this time, it would be a nice feature anyway!

Sometimes it isn't about harassment so much as things that might rub you the wrong way, and for the sake of they are allowed to have their opinion, we just can't get past it but can't say anything. Or maybe the comments they leave annoy you somehow or something. It could be a multitude of things.

Luckily, I've never run into this, but should I ever, this option would be fantastic

When I see someone posting five, single sentence, near unintelligible threads — three discussion + one poll + one comparative — in the space of five minutes, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. my gut reaction is to ask them a single question:

Sadly we are not allowed to say anything.

I have maybe two people that I may consider blocking if I had the option, but other than that I don't think that it's a big deal. I still give input in their threads if they need it and such, I never try and let personal issues with someone get in the way of helping eachother/being civil.

Overall, I think that it would really boost the negativity around here. Just this topic alone had me worried that someone would block me if they had the chance!

I personally think that if you don't like someone because of their attitude or the way that they state things you should let them know. Even just "Hey, your posts are coming across as a bit annoying" or something like that, I know that I would certainly want to know if I was annoying someone.

You can always send a message to the Forum Mod. who can look into it! They will be able to talk to them and let them know that that's 'point-farm-y' and can get them in trouble.

I feel that it would add conflict and hassles within the community. Now you can just ignore the person and no one knows any different. Blocked, that would allow for retaliatory comments on forums, reviews, etc. Nope, not good for our friendly community.

The official stance is that you are allowed to contact any one of the forum staff members to point out behavior that's kind of off. You are welcome to steer people in the right direction, but no one is allowed to treat anyone with even an ounce of disrespect if they step out of line.

It's a forum. There are bound to be people who either get with the program or don't. Simply scroll past their posts. We don't all have to agree, but we do have to get along.

I also have the one single person who, though they don't stress me out, just annoy me terribly when I see their posts, and can consistently guarantee that it will annoy me the same way, for the same reason, every single day...but i just ignore it and roll my eyes. (Man I hope I'm not that one person for anyone haha)

Since it's a forum here and most forums at least have an ignore feature, that would be nice.

I just wanna openly state on here since it is ON the topic, if I ever annoy any of you with anything, please PLEASE feel free to send me a private message explaining what I do! Because we all may have annoying habits on here we don't realize we have, and it just occurred to me that maybe some of these people don't realize they are stressing or annoying us? So feel free to let me know how I can improve myself as an Edenite if needed

PS: kitty made me giggle too
