Do you think that having a tagging feature would improve the EdenFantasys forums?

Contributor: KnK KnK
I'm on a few other forums, that allow for providing tags for posts. The idea is that it will allow for greater navigational ability and in theory it can cut down on redundant posts.

There are always complaints on the forums that certain posts and polls have been done again and again. While it's good to have open communication and freedom to exchange ideas, I think including tagging could make the forums more fun and useful. For instance, it could make the search feature a lot better.

Any thought peeps?

It would nice to have tags if that helped to improve the search function. I always try to search to see if my question has been answered first before posting it and sometimes its hard to find exactly what I am looking for. I would never want to be seen as posting because I was too lazy to search first or because I was trolling for points.

I think tags are useful in general. With the subforums we're already dividing the posts to an extent, but I think a few specific tags (like 'seeking advice' or 'discreet toys') could help.

I don't mind tagging but I'm not sure it will improve the situation here on EF for a few reasons:

1. There is a constant influx of new people that won't understand how the forum and search function exists.

2. There are point farmers that don't care if a topic has been previously posted.

3. There are people who know about the search function and their search does not use the exact same keyword as a previously posted topic, or they are too lazy to even search.

Honestly, I think taking away points associated with the forums would improve the situation dramatically.

I'm inclined to agree with you about removing points for activity on the forum.

It would be really helpful if the search functions were more intuitive and had an autocomplete tool built in for those who may be struggling with finding the appropriate keyword.

It certainly would be an improvement, as long as there were rules in place to keep some users from using lots of unrelated tags.

It would have to be moderated. That's the only way it would work.

P'Gell, just like on the reviews where you can add tags, there would be a place to add appropriate category tags to posts and then a cloud list of tag links to choose from for topic posts.

Yes. It would make searching so much easier.
As is it is hard to find repeat posts of questions and pretty much any question unless you really look.
