I'm hoping that someone who's made more purchases than I have. I want to order a gift, and I'll be traveling to deliver it, so I'd either need it to arrive at my home on Thursday, or at my destination on Friday.
Destination's mailbox will be too small for a package to be left there so I think the delivery needs to be made by UPS instead of USPS.
Right now, thanks to the holiday, everything will ship on Tuesday. A UPS Ground delivery would arrive at my destination Friday, which would be fine---*but* I know that sometimes orders placed during the weekend aren't able to ship until the second business day after the weekend, which would mean that a UPS package would arrive on Monday at a house I'd no longer be visiting.
So, should I go for 2nd day shipping? Does that expedite the order out of the warehouse, though? Because I don't want the package to precede me to my destination, and if it shipped Tuesday and arrived Thursday before I did, nobody would be there to accept it.
Also, is it standard that orders over a certain dollar amount get free 2nd day shipping on Wednesdays and later? My order will definitely be over the threshold.
Anybody have some advice? I feel like I just wrote one of those 4th grade math story problems. Sally's brother is two years older than Jenny's brother, but Sally and Jenny...
