When I first noticed the Principessa beauty bag on the site, I LOVED the cherry blossom imagery. I thought it was such a pretty reusable tote and that I would probably get it soon. BUT then I noticed the pink ribbon. Please do not get me wrong, I am absolutely in support of breast cancer research. I'm sympathetic to the issues and struggles that those with breast cancer and those that they love have to face.
However, I could not help but wonder why there was a pink ribbon on the bag, I mean, are they donating to breast cancer research? If so, who are they donating to, and how much? Eden did not have any of this information listed. Personally, I have issues with the Susan G. Komen foundation, so I was hoping they were not involved with this bag in any way, but there are plenty of ways to support research without supporting Susan G. Komen.
Eden says nothing about breast cancer or donations on the product's page, so I did some hunting around the internet. Every other website that had this bag said the same thing: "The Principessa Borsetta Tote Bag is an environmentally friendly tote bag available for a limited time. This super cute bag not only helps you avoid using plastic bags from the grocery store, but $1 from the sale of EVERY BAG will be donated straight to breast cancer research. Featuring a pink ribbon and a whimsical floral design, along with a convenient pocket, this tote bag is absolutely adorable! The quote on the front reads: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." - Helen Keller"
So now I know that $1 from each bag is donated. But...to where? To who? To what? I still think it is a very pretty bag, but I can't be comfortable buying this until I know.
