Out of stock products

Contributor: LiftedUp LiftedUp
I was just wondering if there is any way to determine the status of products that are out of stock (ie- back ordered, awaiting next shipment, potential arrival date, discontinued product, etc..)? The reason that I ask is that sometimes products just list "Out of Stock" for weeks on end. If there is a toy I want to buy, and it is out of stock, I would definitely prefer to wait for EF to have it in stock (if I know it'll be coming soon) to keep my business here, instead of going to a competitor's website. However, sometimes I find myself just sitting and wondering if there's even any plans of getting it back in stock, and if I'm jut wasting time waiting for nothing!?

Any insight?

There are different product alerts that you can use to monitor various things, however I do not believe that this works for re-stocking. That would be a good suggestion.

I agree, like if there could be an estimated restock date or somesuch. I ended up just saying 'meh' to the Sasi cause I decided I am an impatient woman, haha

Patience is a virtue.

I just read this review by newme21 but the product is out of stock. There is an icon to "set alerts" so I basically assumed that meant it would alert me to the product being instock again.

Okay so I clicked that icon and it gives a list of options but there isn't an alert for restocking, like Gary thought. You can have it remind you to purchase the product though.. that could remind you to check it later to see if it's back in stock.

That's probably an item EF doesn't officially stock yet. Either a descriptive review item or a sponsored item that isn't part of the EF stock, I'd guess. If you go to something like the Dorian ( link ) it does have an option to alert you when it's back in stock.

Oh! I thought she purchased it because I didn't see anything saying that it was a sponsored review. Thanks for the clarification. I tried the "Set Alerts" on the Dorian and saw the back in stock notification option

Thanks for the comments and feedback guys and gals. I am aware of the alerts to notify you when an item is back in stock, and do use them.

However, that doesn't really help with knowing when/if a product is going to be back in stock. As I said before, I'd rather keep my business with EF, but sometimes if that means waiting an extra 3 months for a toy my wife or I really wants to try now... it might not be worth it. And from the current setup, there's no way for us to tell. With some products it's like a gamble to watch and hope it comes back in stock... but then you run into the "How many weeks do I keep this on my alerts list to notify me if it comes back, before going somewhere else to buy it?"

I'm talking more about an "Estimated Restocking Date," or "Back ordered" status, or anything that could give a better indication. I think Gary understood what I was trying to convey in the original post.

That was a sponsered item. So hopefully EF will be carrying it soon. I think it's worth the wait.

Is there an email addy we can write to if we want to find out if or when something will be back in stock? There's an item in my wishlist that has been out for a bit and I'm wondering if they will even be carrying it any longer.
