Missent Mail----What Exactly Does This Mean?

Contributor: js250 js250
My order from EF is now labeled as missent when I track it...not sure what this means, but it does not sound good!! It was only four hours away from my location and now there is nothing on there but one ominous word. Can anyone explain what exactly this means???

I had a USPS package that said that once. It ended up being delivered to a local QVC office...and when they realized it wasn't theirs they returned it to the PO who then forwarded it to me.

When I voiced my aggravation to the PO at the time, they said there was nothing they could do until QVC returned it to them.....how odd is that....

It did end up with me eventually...if that gives you any hope...

I, too, had that happen once. Mad me madder than a snake and the PO is so lousy when it comes to customer service. But, the same day it said it was missent, it showed up in my mailbox. Go figure.

Found this official info on their website:

missent mail - (1) Mail that has not been dispatched by USPS according to official schemes, schedules, or special orders (e.g., mail originated in Albany, NY, addressed to Tampa, FL, but received in San Francisco, CA). (2) A designation for a Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation event scan for individual parcels that are misdirected because of a USPS error.
(Compare with misshipped mail.)

misshipped mail - (1) Mail deposited by the mailer at the wrong Post Office or facility. (2) A designation for a Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation event scan for individual parcels that are misdirected from mailer error.
