Do you ever have to explain why you keep getting mysterious packages every month?

Contributor: So Long Ya Doofuses! So Long Ya Doofuses!
I technically live on my own in an apartment-style dorm run by my university, but legally and officially I still live with my parents. Thus, I always have EF ship to my parents' house rather than my apartment because the University Post Monster loves to snack on packages. I go home almost every weekend and I try to plan my shipping around it, but more often than not my parents are the ones to receive it. I've been getting assignments every month since August, and they have yet to ask me why I keep getting boxes in the mail with contents that I have never shown them. I've been debating whether or not to tell my mom about the true nature of these monthly packages, since I'm thinking they will become a pretty regular thing. I know for a fact that she would be incredibly proud to learn that I have only spent $30 on about $250 worth of sexy fun!

That being said, I haven't had to explain YET, but I always have to be prepared for the question. So, to all the people who live with another living, breathing human (or two or five+), which of the following best describes Mail Day at YOUR place?

There are two or more people at my place, and either they don't suspect a thing or they haven't asked.

I live with my husband and 18 years old son, they're not the nosy type, and will not touch packages that are not addressed to them.

I live with my husband and son, but my son is too young to ask. My husband knows and often opens my stuff before I get to.

I don't live with my mom, but she comes over pretty often. I finally had to tell her why I was getting so many packages because she plays 20 questions. Plus she thought I was spending a lot of money when it's almost all review items. I had to reassure her that 90% of them are free.

I live with my husband and children. My husband knows exactly what's in them. My kids have asked what's in the box often (because any box could be a present from Grandma). I just told them they are massagers. We have massage oils, a massage table, and massage books at the house, so the idea of a massage tool makes sense to them. Although one of my kids asked me, "Geez, Mom, how many more of those do you need?" They aren't old enough to connect the dots.

Tell them that you are part of a survey club online and the club sends you packages often to test out products, then you have to get online and take the survey regarding the product that they just sent you. This is true, because there is an actual survey club out there that I am a part of that sends me pacakages just as much as Eden. So go with a story like this if you dont want to be COMPLETELY honest about the contents in the package.

I live with my two sons and my husband. I don't have to worry about anyone when I open my packages. My children are too young and my husband knows it's more toys.

I live with (including only the adults) my mother, my sister and her fiance. They all know what types of stuff I order and know better than to look and see what I've gotten.

We have a P.O. box, so all of our packages come there instead of to our house.

same, the only time I get crazy possessive about being in charge of the mail is if it is a present for them. Not so easy to get a surprise when there are only two of us and we share a bank account...

I live with my husband and son. My husband knows exactly what I am getting (usually, unless I use my points to surprise him). My son is way too little to know about this kind of thing. Luckily, the packages arrive while he's in school and I have a nice big walk in closet he isn't allowed in. He has actually seen a toy package on my desk while I was reviewing something and asked what it was. I told him it was a toy for grown ups, and that when he was a teenager, or maybe a few years before that, we'd tell him more. He was OK with that.

Depending on how conservative your folks are, I think you should probably tell your mom. You are in college, after all, doing your own thing now. My parents don't know and would likely have a heart attack if they did, but since I live on my own it's no big deal.

I live with my husband and three children. My oldest child is usually at school when the mail comes, and my youngest doesn't have a clue, but my middle child is always asking me what I got. I always tell her that it's not something for her so it doesn't matter. My husband sometimes knows what I'm getting, but I usually include surprises for him/us so I don't always tell him until it comes in.

Our parcels are delivered to my parent in laws house and I'm pretty sure they must know that I review sex toys, seems like they would have put 2 and 2 together as they know I have a blog and some companies (not Eden) can be far from discreet in what they print on outer packaging.

I've had things like - Orgasmic Rabbit - written on an otherwise plain cardboard box

Several things have been mailed to my lovers sis' house, as neither of us have a real address currently.

She's yet to ask...

Hey, at least he'll have to answer, not me!

My mom knows about the package contents and doesn't make a big stink about them at all. She's even asked me to order things for her (like lubes and bath/body products.) I'm a girl with needs, I'm not smuggling illegal things. LOL

I live with family, so yes I have to be stealthy with packages. I always try to get to it before anyone else, and bury the packaging in the garbage. I'm bad at making up excuses, lol.

I live alone, however my mother is always over and has been over every time I've had something shipped to me, at first I wasn't going to tell her anything, but she's nosy and I ended up telling her everything. I'm glad I did it because I don't have to freak out about hiding them from her if she's over.
