Wonder Woman Gets A Makeover?

Ok, so I am going to show my age here, but Linda Carter in hotpants and a bustier is an image embedded in my childhood memories...

And now they have Wonder Woman in pants??

I get the idea that these are different times and perhaps she needed an updated look, but pants just seems like they are trying too hard.

Part of the beauty of Wonder Woman was her sex-goddess persona– look–you can be a smart, powerful, SEXY woman... you don't have to dress like a man to be taken seriously.

What's next? Superman in jeans?
Batman in a suit?

Funny thing is, women are complaining about the change to spandex pants more than the fanboys are. The Silver Age Wonder Woman is embedded in the American consciousness more than the proto-WW and the Golden Age WW. Besides, she looks too much like Troia in this get-up, as well as wearing Superboy's (punk-version) jacket.

Although Dr. Marston, WW's creator, might like it as long as it came with a riding crop. (He would have LOVED being here at Eden ... bondage, dominatrices, multiple partners ... the man was pretty open-minded for his era. Had to be to be a psychologist who decided that young girls needed a strong female role model ... who got tied up in every issue ... )

I'm kinda glad she's getting a make over. I'm not really a big DC fan, but it seemed to be stuck in the 40's at times. If they aren't bringing her into the modern days, at least she's making it to the 80's!

I didn't think I'd like it, but I kinda like it. It does make her less dated and kitschy, but that's a good thing; maybe she'll actually have a popular comic again.

I think they could have made it a BIT sexier, a la Silk Spectre II in the movie version of Watchmen. As it stands, she looks like she's about to go to the grocery store... not kick some major butt.

Honestly, I think it's a crappy outfit. They can update her look while keeping her in a skirt, and they should.
