The one that always comes to mind whenever I think of V-Day is when I was in 7th grade. My best guy friend walked me home from the bus stop like he usually did - which meant he went out of his way because he lived at the head of the block and I lived further down the block. A couple of hours after he walked me home, he came back that evening with a bouquet of flowers (daisies, carnations, etc) and stated "Happy Valentine's Day. I'll see you tomorrow." Then left.

It was the only time I ever received flowers in my life (not even my ex-husband got me flowers for anything). Unfortunately, nothing came of it, and we didn't even have our first kiss together, but I love that memory of the only time I ever got flowers.

My favorite Vday memory was the first one spent with my husband. He gave me a stuffed animal I had been eyeing for months but couldn't convince my grownup self to buy, flowers and a box of my favorite chocolates. That was the one and only time we celebrated Valentine's Day and that was over a decade ago.

I got married on my In Laws Deck up in the mountains of Colorado on Valentines day 1999. It was actually a beautiful sunny day and it wasn't cold, which is typical for Feburary in the Mountains.

Fondest Valentine memory is when we started our new Valentine's celebration tradition a couple years ago. Hubby took me to a fantastic Chinese buffet that even serves an awesome warm sake. Afterwards we walked over to the little local movie theater and grabbed balcony seats for the first Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

I was married to a man that never cared about Valentine's Day. To be honest, it wasn't a big deal to me either prior to meeting him because I had never been in a serious relationship around the holiday. After being with my very distant husband for a few years, I left him. I was lonely and miserable, but never once regretted my decision.

I signed up for a dating site toward the beginning of February, three months after I physically left my husband. I honestly wasn't trying to find someone to shack up with, I had no idea how else to meet people and was looking for more of a friend than anything, but wasn't interested in messing around since I had two young children to take care of.

On February 11th, I got a message from this guy. He told me that my daughters were beautiful, just like their mom. I thought it was such a sweet compliment to give me! I looked at his page and he seemed really down to earth. He said he was looking for someone he could take to meet his mom, and I knew that meant that he wasn't just interested in a fling. I tried to find a way to write back to him ('cause I was cheap and only signed up for the free stuff!) and finally gave in after a couple of days and started a 'free trial' to be able to write back to him! As soon as I saw his email address in one of his messages (which was blacked out 'cause I hadn't paid), I cancelled my trial and didn't have to actually pay for it (soooo smart of me!).

So, I emailed him and told him a little bit about myself. It was on Valentine's Day that he wrote back to me and we started having a great back and forth conversation through email. I remember throwing out an 'Oh, by the way...Happy Valentine's Day!' thinking it seemed like fate to me!

We talked every day, all day after that. Less than two months later, we had our first date! We fell fast and hard for each other...and somehow, it all started on Valentine's day!

So, Valentine's Day has a very special meaning to me...especially that beautiful day nearly three years ago, when I started falling in love with the man that would later become my husband!

The time I took girlfriend on a winter camping adventure in the woods. I rented a canvas tent, wood stove, and packed a very romantic dinner, candles, and an extra comfy sleeping bag. I drove her out of town on that cold, sunny day and found a ski / snowshoe trail that also had camping sites. We packed a sled, strapped on some snowshoes, and hiked out to our camping site. Once we got there I set up the tent, started up the wood stove, and tucked inside where it was warm.

That night we ate a delicious meal, had some champagne, and made sweet loving down by the wood stove. I'd suggest this anyone looking to try something new!

I use to absolutely hate Valentine's Day because I'd see some girls come with giant stuffed animals, boxes and boxes of chocolates, and a dozen roses while some girls were empty handed. I feel sorry for both women, but I have a new feeling torwards Valentine's Day. My boyfriend and I enjoy a quiet dinner together and spend the evening being in each others arms, just talking and enjoying each other's love. He might get me a single lily or something sweet that he knows I love, but we try to do that kind of thing when it is unexpected so it means more. We never expect any kind of gift just because it is Valentine's Day.

I had a photo of me that had my daughter's in it. I needed people to realize that I came with two other people.

I actually can't really remember any "great" vday celebrations...the last date I can remember was actually before I even started dating my ex, we went and saw Daredevil.

I don't really recall any single V-Day that was more impressionable than any other, but I've always had a mate through V-Day and get something so it's not like I've ever been lonely through the season.

I'm really looking forward to this Valentines with the hubby, last Valentines was our first as a married couple but it was just weeks after our wedding so we didn't plan much for it. This year we have planned a night away

I've never really had a great Valentine's Day. The first year my fiance lived with me was a TERRIBLE Valentine's Day so the others since then have been him trying to make it up to me.

I haven't had a great one yet, so hopefully this one will be! My last boyfriend (of four years) never did anything for me or gave me gifts, but my current boyfriend is more sensitive and romantic so I'm sure he'll do something.

Understandable. I just thought that was like a dating site no-no but I am so glad it worked out for you the way it did!

There were tons of women on the site that had photos of themselves with their kids...there were a lot of guys that did too. I can understand NOW how that could have been a bad thing. But I was very naive and didn't really think about it at the time.

Last year on Valentine's Day, my boyfriend had to work all day and I had school at night. I was also feeling pretty sick. I had given him a nice (and fairly expensive) watch as a gift and hadn't gotten anything from him (which I didn't really mind).

He was supposed to be dropping me off at school so he could run to a sporting goods store that he had a coupon for. I told him I was thinking about just going to class to check in and telling the professor I was sick and then leaving because I really wasn't feeling well (and it was Valentine's Day, I wanted to hang out with my sweetie, dammit!). He pretty much told me he had stuff he needed to go do so he couldn't wait around for me. I said ok and started walking to class but before I got there I started getting MAD. He was taking MY car and making me go to class when I was sick on Valentine's Day. So I called him to tell him how mad I was and before I could, he said not to worry, that he'd be back in 30 minutes.
He ran and got me a $150 Victoria's Secret gift card, a box of chocolates, and a fluffy heart-shaped pillow. And then I felt like a jerk for being so mad when he was just trying to surprise me.

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years, and this will be our third valentines day together. We are college students, so we don't expect a lot from each other, but the first year was the perfect valentines day.

He didn't tell me he was planning anything, and like most cheesy boyfriends he gave me a flower to tote around campus all day. It was a pink rose, so pretty! I was already happy enough, but hoping we had a date for that night. Somehow, every time we saw each other that day he got me to walk away for some amount of time, and when I got back there was a new present waiting for me (something small like a candy or another rose, but I loved it. Every girl would come up and say something about how sweet my boyfriend is. It made me feel really special.

Then that night he tells me to come over and bring a nice dress. We got really dolled up and went to a tiny italian place. Now we reserve that place for special occassions with each other when we feel like remembering that wonderful date. I'm so happy I have a good date planner in my life! He feels the pressure sometimes to do that well again, but the memory is good enough for me!

My now-ex-husband had 2 dozen roses delivered to me while I was touring Italy with my Mom & sister. I was our first Valentine's Day since we met... and each Valentine's Day was less and less romantic. 14 years later, we're divorced.

The best Valentines day I ever had might have been last year because I got a lot of valentines from my friends for the first time since high school. Or my freshman year of high school because I got a lot of valentines.

I don't have a partner or any celebrating friends this year, or anyone who I would like to celebrate it with this year, but I would celebrate it with someone, if I had someone to spend it with. I just like gift giving a lot and like making things for people and showing them that I care. Holidays are my excuse of doing so; otherwise I might do it spontaneously, but I'm not sure if I would also because I used to be really passive, but I'm not passive anymore

My perfect Valentines Day would be spent with lots of friends and all of us showing that we care

I proposed to my wife on V day. I made her (then) favorite meal and told her a love story (about us) and ended it with me proposing. Nothing majorly fancy, just us.
