my very first Halloween costume i remember was a witch, i must have been in 1st grade and i hated it lol i remember i wanted so badly to be jasmine from Aladdin but my mom couldn't afford the costume so i had to settle for a witch costume.

I have pictures from when I was three of four and I don't really know exactly what I was, but my costume was totally cute. I looked like a baby lady marmalade. I think it was just something my mom found at a thrift store.

Mine was a vampire and I loved it! As a kid I never wanted to be a princess or anything like that, I always wanted to be something scary.

I didn't complain about it though because even then i was aware of my mom being a single mother of 2 so i just smiled it off and told her i loved it but only i knew i was sad i couldn't be jasmine, i still felt blessed that at least i got a costume because once i got to school a lot of kids parents couldn't afford costumes and they got nothing

thinking back on that makes me wonder how you start a charity, id love to be able to start one to collect money for kids who cant afford a halloween costume, lets face it halloween after all is about kids trick or treating and they should all get a chance to experience it.

I'm sure there are people out there who do something like that, just maybe not in your area. I think it's a great idea, and also a great way to recycle old costumes that people have only worn once.

thanks, im going to try looking into it, id probably have to start now to get a good amount of funds to get enough costumes for kids next year, if i get it up and running, ill let everyone know on here, might even write an article on it.

That would be awesome. Maybe you could get together with like a local goodwill or maybe a thrift shop or something to get donations and such.

My first halloween costume I can remember was a Dalmatian. It was homemade from a white sweeter and white sweatpants with black dots painted on. My mom made it. I won first place in the costume contest.

yea that's a great idea, Ill repost about this in about a month and see if people on here are willing to donate costumes that their kids wont need anymore so next year they can be given to kids who cant afford any.

That sounds like a really great and fun idea.

here are a few things that immediately popped into my head...

- after Halloween discounts, eventually stuff gets up to 90% off (shop now for next year)

- if you were doing something local, you could find a venue and have a Halloween party (snacks, movies, candy, kid activities, and have a free costume bin).

(and if you did this say a week before Halloween, the less fortunate kids would then have costumes).

My first costume that I can remember was Yogi Bear. Yes- my mom dressed me up as Yogi Bear. I guess I loved Yogi when I was really young.

When I was a baby my mom made me and my sisters pumpkin costumes but the first real costume I remember was when I dressed up as Pikachu and my mom painted my face.

I don't remember what my first costume was, but I remember when I was very little I think I went as She-ra and Tinkerbell. I remember how uncomfortable those costumes were, and also remember wondering why there was a picture of the character on the costume as if everyone wore clothes with their own pictures on them.
