Writing Guidelines for Eden Cafe

Contributor: Carrie Ann Carrie Ann
Lots of questions about how you can write for Eden Cafe lately so I've put up a set of guidelines with basic requirements, topics and pay rate -- in gift cards, of course. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have either in the comments on the guidelines page or in an email!

Hope this helps!

I have to say that I am so very impressed with Eden Cafe! In just 6 months, I have watched it grow. There is always such great content. Very well done, Carrie Ann and crew! Be assured, aspiring EC contributors, you will be joining a great team of people over there!

Most welcome. I figured I was getting enough questions it was past time. Glad it's helpful.

Woman, you sure do like to make me blush!

Thank you. I am very proud of EC and all the authors who contribute. You guys are what makes it a success, not me!

Thanks. I'm curious (and ignorant!) What are the different roles of the Cafe and Sexis. I've read a bit of Sexis but less of Eden Cafe. Is Sexis also paid with gift cards?

SexIs is an online (and now print!) magazine with articles by professional writers. Matt would have to explain the pay scale there and the focus.

Eden Cafe is the Eden Fantasys blog. We're trying to bring together EF itself, SexIs and the community in a place where folks can read and write in more detail than on the forum, though it's not open like the forum is.

Eden Cafe does occasional staff product reviews, features the video reviews, promotes sales and forum posts on occasion to inspire people to get involved. It excerpts SexIs articles on occasion. We feature stories, articles and posts by not only our community here but by those who may have found the blog from outside and submitted posts, gotten involved. It's a way to boost traffic both to us at EF and to the blogs of those who write for us.

It doesn't really have one purpose or role and it's only been around for six months so it's growing.

I'd say take a look around. A lot of folks from EF are writing some great stuff on EC. And what it does is pretty much explained once you read it.

It brings the community together, linking all the aspects of EF into a friendly, sex positive place where folks can read, write, share, comment, learn and teach.

It's a big ball of happiness, our cafe.

My experience writing for Eden Cafe in December was great. Thanks again for the opportunity. One suggestion - emailing the contributors their gift card number, rather than mailing a physical card, would be faster, cheaper for EF, and is better for the environment. Thanks again!

We actually have been the past few weeks. We don't have them for sale yet as emailed numbers but for contest winners, EC and video payment, we've been just emailing the codes. I think it's working out well for everyone!

I'm glad you enjoyed writing for EC. You should totally do it again.

I was wondering what file formats were preferred? Do you want just plain .txt or .rtf or are .doc/.docx okay?

That is a great question, and I also would like to know.

I can make .txt, .rtf, .doc and even .pdf

Even though you probably would not be interested in .pdf ...I love .pdf, makes it look professional, but would probably be a pain in the ass for you

I just do .txt and .doc

Thanks so much for this post! I was wondering a few of these things myself. I'm definitely going to submit something in the future. It's a GREAT site! I love it.

This is just a quick question, is there a maximum number of submissions/acceptance s in any time period? One per month, or some regulation like that? It wasn't mentioned in the FAQ for writing for Eden Cafe and I was just wondering.

I think they can only have four submissions on hold for you at any one time (that they haven't yet been able to publish).

Hey there, T&A! Thanks for the question.

Generally speaking, Hot 'N Sexy TexasMama is right. 4 items in the queue at a time.

However, sometimes I make exceptions. For example, we've currently got a World AIDS Day project going on, so if someone already had 4 items in the queue, but wanted to participate in the World AIDS Day project, I'd accept their WAD post.
