Do dreams interfere with your relationships?

Contributor: Unconventional Unconventional
I find it difficult to interact normally with someone after I've had a particularly vivid dream about them. It may have been about my husband with another woman, a steamy dream about someone I DON'T feel that way about, or something similar. In any case, I find it difficult to put the dream aside and act like nothing is different. At least for the first half of the day.

I do, but, only when said person says or does something that was done in my dream. At that point, I catch myself wondering if my dream was real and trying to remember the dream.

In case anyone's wondering why I voted "Never"
I think the focus of my dreams tend to be about my feelings about the situation rather than my feelings towards a particular person/people, even though a specific person might show up in the dream. I've had two dreams in which a person I knew (though not very well) did something terrible to me and I was surprised to find that I didn't really treat them or feel any differently towards them the next day. I figure the person might've just been a random part of the dream, as in it could've been anyone else but it ended up being that person because they were mentioned earlier that day or I saw their name or had a random thought about them or something.

In short: I mostly dream about myself; people I know don't really show up in my dreams and when they do they're kind of more like extras in a movie.

Is it just me or does anyone ever dream of strangers ? All the dreams I remember always have someone from work, the gym or Ow. Always someone I know. And many dreams I remember for a split second then forget what happened.

Anyone else ?

Of course my most vivid dream was of my wife O.W.

Most of my dreams are of people I know. It's very rare for me to have a sexy dream about someone other than my husband. I honestly don't have many sex dreams to think of. They are few and far between

LOL what timing. I just entered online for win a civic or trip to England or Boston from Honda. Last night I dreamt OW won and packed a bag and was off to the Airport. There was only 1 ticket. The gentleman holding her hand and escorting her to the terminal was grinning and smiling back at me. Ow then turned around and smiled also. I said to myself good thing she packed a bunch of condoms !

I guess reading this thread and entering that contest spurred this dream.

I had a dream a couple nights ago and it was weird but kinda fun at the same time. It was bout me and my wife in the heat of the moment with a toy involved. Well during the moment she started using it on me how she would normally use it on herself then she pulled out a strap on and began using it on me.that's when I woke up wondering what made me dream that.its not something we have ever talked bout or done in the past or even considered doing so I guess that would be the weird part of it

Yes I did and we both got a good laugh out of it. I kinda liked the dream but at same time thought it was just awkward.

It doesn't affect me. I know what's real and what isn't.

Under the right circumstances I would probably be up for it but convincing her is the hardest part

I don't recall most of my dreams lately. I have had a few dreams over the years that were pretty messed up, even sexual ones, but it's never affected me or my relationships.

I do recall a friend of mine who married his childhood sweetheart and everything was fine until she got pregnant and due to issues they began not having sex in the later months, then a few weeks later he started having vivid sexual wet dreams and he would talk and moan. Calling out his wife's name etc. The wife was fine with this until after the baby had been born and she expected sex to resume as normal but he was so used to his "dream" wife that when he was with his "actual" wife things were difficult because she was not as adventurous as he had re-imagined he to be.

I almost never have dreams involving sex, and the only times I've had people I know in dreams it's been in a non-sexual strange context... that had me questioning what my subconscious was trying to process that lead to the event. But never effected my interactions with them the next day, but I also quickly forget what I dreamt about shortly upon waking.

I've actually had dreams about my ex, which made me feel guilty when I woke up and saw the presence of my current girlfriend. I would feel terrible, and it was worse when the dreams have been so vivid that I felt like it actually happened. I don't know why I dream of my exes, they're never on my mind, and I'm extremely into and happy with my current gf; they just sometimes pop up in my dream unexpectedly and I wake up like "what the hell". But, yes, this does sometimes affect how I talk to my girlfriend in the mornings, but I'm always honest and express how gross I feel about them. Usually by the time I get over the 'ick' factor and realize it wasn't real, we're laughing about them though. (She knows a lot of my exes)
