Lost gift card numbers?

Contributor: Kat Shanahan Kat Shanahan
Holy shit, I'm freaking out here. *L* I have over $200 in gift cards, and I was saving them up for a huge order. I kept all my gift card numbers in a Word file on my desktop, which I *thought* I had backed up to my external hard drive.

Apparently I was wrong. My laptop crashed a couple days ago and after my reformat, I can't find my gift card numbers ANYWHERE. The only one I have is my most recent one, which I received today.

How can I retrieve my misplaced GC numbers? Holy shit, I can't believe this.

If you go here you should see a running list of gift cards to your account. If they aren't from points, you might want to get a hold of the person who issued them to you to see if they have the records.

Check your email too. They always email the gift cards from videos/contests/etc. so if you didn't delete them, they should still be in there. Good luck!

I would check your email. Even if you've deleted the email from your inbox it may still be in the trash folder. I'd also suggest maybe in the future keeping them in a specific folder in your email so that way you don't have to worry about keeping track of a specific file on your desk top. Good luck!

Yep, I found the one that was from points. Unfortunately that was the smallest of the GCs I had; most of them were from submissions to EdenCafe. I've contacted Rayne about it and she's doing what she can to help, but apparently it's a very time-intensive process to try and track down the missing cards, and there's no guarantee they'll be able to be recovered.

It's my own damn fault; I thought I had backed up the Word file I kept the codes in, but apparently I didn't. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep writing and the points will be replaced eventually.

I checked my email (all three accounts, just in case) and at this point I've managed to track down all but two of the missing cards. The two missing cards still add up to $75, but it's better than losing over $200!

I always kept a Word file with a list of the GC codes as I got them. I could have *sworn* I backed it up to my external hard drive before I reformatted, but I guess I didn't. *sigh* I think from now on I'll actually physically write them down. At least paper can't crash! *L*

I'm glad you found most of them, have you found the other two yet?

No, I haven't. But I guess it's better to have lost $75 worth than to have lost $250, right?
