I'd be on board with the idea of having a number pop up next to the name to alert of messages and the like, but I'm pretty against having a noise of some sort. I always have this page up, even when I'm doing other stuff like watching TV shows online, or hanging around Youtube, or talking on the phone if I get a call while I'm at the computer, and even though a noise may not be that loud, it would be enough to irritate me. And the point of it being there if I turned it off would be? lol
I'm not sure who you have for email, but I know gmail (at least used to) have a notifier that you could download and it would basically let you know when you have a new email, a lot like Outlook does. I find that really helps a lot with keeping up on emails. Oh! Or just keeping the email open in a separate tab

Like I said, it could just be something optional. Maybe we could choose between the noise or the number next to our screenname?
I would leave my yahoo chat open but I get all these creepy weirdos trying to talk to me, which is annoying... even if I'm pretending to be offline. And my e-mail does alert me, but it's discreet and I really can't tell unless I go back and forth from the yahoo page to my EF. So if I'm working on a review and I got a message from... EX: Miss Nessa, then I would have no idea.
Idk if that makes sense lol. But just something for those busy review-writers? I hate switching tabs all the time and if we had some sort of way to be notified at the top of the page or with an optional "ding!" that would be awesome!
