Liberator shipping as of 7/2011

I posted this in the "sale" thread, but I'm reposting here because it relates specifically to shipping.

It is my imagination, or did the shipping charge on Liberator products just TRIPLE? I went to checkout with the Flip Ramp in black and it says $30. I would swear on a stack of bibles it said $10 yesterday.

Shipping was offered at $10 when I bought my Ramp a few months ago. It looks like the larger Liberator pieces now ship for $20 UPS or $30 USPS.

Give customer service a call and ask them to check on it, you know computers sometimes make errors. Since EF and Liberator have merged, it is ok to also point out that currently Liberator is offering free UPS shipping on anything over 75.00.

We did just update our Liberator shipping prices to more accurately reflect the shipping charges we incur with the larger packaging. The prices posted now are current with the updates we received from UPS and USPS. I wish the shippers could give us a better price on the shipping and handling of the bulk items, but our hands are tied with packaging tape...

Canadian shipping for Liberator products went up to $60

Seeing as UPS doesn't print the actual shipping cost on the package, I don't know how close this is to being accurate but I trust that EdenFantasys is being fair with their pricing.

Glad I ordered my BonBon last week when shipping was just $20! Might be a while before I order another though.

No one thought a heads-up to the customers might be in order? Especially in the middle of a sale/promotion?

I'm really disappointed right now. I knew the sale on the products was through July 8th, and when I contacted customer service because the color I wanted was out of stock, I was told to wait a few days and it (black) would be available. If someone had bothered to tell me that the shipping was going to triple (priority was $10 prior), I would have just purchased it last week in purple or even blue.

When we get real-time updates like this, posting to the website is the fastest, most accurate method we have to communicate changes to our customers. We and Liberator are sister companies, and they do have deals and shipping sales of their own. I would recommend checking out both of us for the absolute best deals on their products.

My point was I would have liked to have been told before the change went into effect. Finding out after the fact is completely useless.

If you think this is absurd, have a look what the shipping price for international orders is for the Wedge. I mean, it's not even a large piece such as the Flip Ramp, and unlike north american customers, we don't even get the chance to choose whether it'll be shipped via UPS or whatever.

There are way larger things on EF that'll ship for lower costs. And even if there weren't, it's kind of a stretch to say that both a Wedge and a Universal sex swing stand ship for the same cost.

I'm really disappointed. I'm sure there's plenty of gals and guys out there unhappy with the change.

You know, if such a outrageous shipping cost wasn't enough, in South America (and I'm sure in plenty of other countries throughout the world) DHL offers a really terrible service. First off, they're not held responsable for lost or damaged packages. Secondly, they often delay the delivery to up to four months, which will also come with extra taxes (besides customs duty). If you don't pay those extra delivery taxes, DHL will destroy the package themselves. Since they don't deliver in most places in the world, if you happen to live in one of those towns in the planet where there's no DHL office, you have to pay even more. So, say, if I buy a Flip Ramp, since I live in a large country, I have to pay around $100 EXTRA shipping for DHL to send it to me, because they don't deliver where I live, and it just happens that the Flip Ramp is quite a large piece.

There's also no reliable customer service, they very often hang up the phone on you and the very few times you manage to talk to somebody, the little information you always get is "contact the seller". 9 in 10 times something I bought was sent via DHL, the shipping address was all scrambled up, and nobody contacted me to fix it.

My country, specifically, already has incredibly high custom taxes (up to 90%). When you add up the awful service DHL offers, it's sad, but there's no way I'll risk and buy any more Liberator gear. It'd be cheaper to offer 100 dollar gift cards to somebody to receive the packages for me and ship them via USPS just because EF insists on only using DHL service instead of offering an option to us customers.

I've received quite large USPS boxes from EF. Why is it that Liberator gear can only be shipped via DHL internationally? I'm sure if they couldn't be shipped via USPS, there wouldn't be a option for those who live in the US. It's not like they shrink down in size depending on where you live.

I apologize for the rant and for the bad English... but really, I am so disappointed.

it is sad to see the price of shipping go up. I was going to get a wing. I was not too happy about the extra $10 for shipping. But it has now gone up to $20. I know that EF is just covering their shipping cost, but I still dont like it.

Well I really want the Esse and had save up for it, but the shipping to Alaska doubled the cost and a bit more, making it completely out of the question for us forever. Sad!

So glad I got the Whirl XT a week ago! Otherwise, I would not have gotten that either. It would be cheaper to buy it in the brick and mortar store with the additional shipping costs now.

I've been saving up for a liberator piece for a while now, and now it's going to be even longer in order to afford the extra shipping. Considering the deals at the Liberator site, I'm astonished that the shipping has gone up so much here. I understand needing to cover costs, but there are many other small things that could be done with the site or the review program to cover such a large jump in shipping.

I'm in the same boat, shipping on my next pieces will be and extra $30 a piece! I would consider paying it if it were $30 for a few pieces but each piece is a bit much.

I was just thinking this. *sigh* With that shipping cost, plus the cost of Liberator in the first place, they are appearing to be items I may be able to do without.

The DHL thing in SA is ridiculous. I hate DHL and refuse to have anything shipped by them. They are irresponsible, rude and make more mistakes (close to 100% of the packages I have had shipped DHL in the past were fucked up by them) than any other carrier. Have you seen their trucks? They look like something left by the side of the road that has squatters living in them. UG.

I think this increased cost that Liberator won't absorb (say reduce the price some, they are expensive the way it is) is going to result in a decrease in people buying this gear. I was thinking, as the storage box I have been wanting has been out of stock for a while of getting a Liberator wedge or heart, but not now.

I hope that Liberator and EF will put their collective head(s) together since they are the same parent company and come up with a solution for this. They are both in the same building in Atlanta. Both of them are great companies and both want their customers happy.

I know for a fact that all the Liberator shapes ship from the same building in Atlanta, because I have been there, and because you can read all about the manufacturing process on Liberator's website. That means that whether you buy the shape from Liberator or EF it is going to ship out of the same building to you.
I also know for a fact that Liberator intentionally designs both the pillows and the boxes that they ship in to get the lowest possible shipping cost. I spoke directly with Liberator's sales manager recently and he showed us how they designed the boxes to keep under UPS and FedEx's measurements between one size box and another. Keep in mind that it is not just the weight of the box, but the dimensions. UPS and FedEx charge everyone based on a combination of both the weight and the dimensions, something they refer to as dimensional weight or billable weight. This is where we are all getting screwed, because UPS and FexEx take the dimensions of the box and assign a weight to it, even if it does not really weigh that! This is what has happened to us all here. UPS and FedEx are assigning a falsely high weight based on how much space in their trucks/planes etc the box takes.

I do a lot of shipping, so I just went onto UPS.com and did some calculations to figure out if the $20.00 shipping cost is close to accurate. Here is what I found. I used the dimensions of the FlipRamp from the website 19 x 19 x 15. The weight is 22 pounds. I used shipping dimensions of 20 x 20 x 15 because the box has to be slightly bigger than the pillow for it to fit inside obviously, and 23 pounds to take into account the weight of the box.

Here is what I found out, using MY zip code only an hour away from where Liberator and EF are located on the north side of Atlanta--actual shipping cost to me is $22.80! In addition, UPS assigned a dimensional billable weight of 44 pounds! Now, I know that huge companies like Liberator and EF, that ship huge amounts every day, get a discount, but that means that retail shipping cost for the FlipRamp to my house in metro Atlanta costs the company more than what they are charging as a flat rate to ship to any of us! Petite Valentine, your profile shows you are somewhere in the northeastern US. For funs and grins, I used a default New York, New York zip code 10005 and re-ran it. Retail shipping costs to New York City are $34.04. There is thus no question but that EF and Liberator are being very fair on the new shipping costs, which again they have no control over.

Currently the FlipRamp is on sale for $25% off the regular $155.00 price for a total of $116.25 on EF through today. The shipping cost is $20.00 for UPS ground, not $30. The $30 shipping is for USPS priority, which you never want to use anyway. You can therefore get it for $136.25, and you can use points if you have any saved up. Frankly the difference in $116.25 plus $10.00 shipping versus $116.25 plus $20.00 shipping is, well.......
While the $10.00 extra sucks, understand that UPS and FedEx simply pass on a cost to companies, and the companies do not have any control over it.

I just checked and they did raise the heart wedge shipping to 20. That may be high if you consider that its only the shipping rate, but I am assuming that it also includes the wages for the warehouse staff that have to process our orders. If Liberator didn't have such quality products I might not be willing to pay it but since they do, I guess I will just bite the bullet and keep saving for my BonBon. Sigh...

You are correct about the shipping costs, and I do appreciate the research you've done. We do alot to make our shipping expenses fair, like covering standard shipping on all orders over $59.99, and on Wednesdays, orders over $80 qualify for free 2nd day, and orders on Thursday over $100 qualify for free next day shipping. While Liberator is exempt from those deals because of their size and weight, all of our other products can qualify for some awesome discounts in shipping.

We do still have to run a business, but we are a business that goes above and beyond for our customers; with free gifts, sales, discounts, Edenpoints gift cards, review programs, etc.

And as always, with Liberator products, we want you to get the best deal, so check out their website for current promotions in shipping or product sales.

And in addition to that, we are always trying to find new ways to reward you guys for all your support. It's awesome seeing everyone together exchanging ideas about what they want from a company, what they want out of a purchase, what they got out of a product. We do listen to that.

If we could find a way to notify everyone of our updates before they post? We like to think that at this point, especially if you are in the Community, that you know we would do that. But when it comes to things like updating prices and shipping costs, our hands are a little tied; We can only update information like this in real time, when we receive it. All information posted to the website is up to date and final, so you can know going into your interests and potential order what to expect. We don't want to surprise anyone, we just want to keep you informed.

And the best way we can do that is by posting the updates when they occur.

Like Jaimes said, Liberator offers deals as well, and sometimes these deals do mean modified shipping costs, and discounted shapes. Feel free to check them out. We love putting our Community members in touch with our new sister company, especially if it means it could help you guys out.

"This is where we are all getting screwed, because UPS and FexEx take the dimensions of the box and assign a weight to it, even if it does not really weigh that!"

I have no doubt that the shipping companies raised their rates, and as a result EF was forced to raise theirs. That's not my issue. It's that the rates went up with no notice that peeves me. I literally had something in my shopping cart at one cost, clicked through to checkout, and the price shot up $20.

At my old job I shipped packages every day via FedEx and UPS, and everytime there was a change or increase — and there were plenty of them — we were notified 10 business days in advance. Same thing with the postal office. They make national annoucements about rate increases, they don't scream "surprise!" when you get to the counter.

It's understandable that EF has to charge more to cover rising costs, what stings is the lack of warning.

"Here is what I found out, using MY zip code only an hour away from where Liberator and EF are located on the north side of Atlanta--actual shipping cost to me is $22.80!"

I'm not sure what the 'actual' shipping cost is but out of curiosity I used my zip code on the Liberator site and it says the shipping discount (since they are currently shipping shapes for free) is -$16.29, and I'm A LOT farther away than an hour.

The regular shipping costs Eden provides is FANTASTIC! Free in the USA with just $59.00 order. I'm just sad about the increase in the Liberator shipping.
