Working from Home?

Contributor: Tangerine Tangerine
I recently asked a question about checking work at the door. In reviewing the responses I noticed quite a few people work from home.

If you are working from home or have worked from home, what is that you do and how did you going about getting a job from home?

This is something I feel I would love to do but have no idea who actually works from home, what they do or how they even got into it in the 1st place.

I work from home, and I work for Eden. It was a happy series of events that got me here. There are downsides though. For one, you have to police yourself really well. Having a separate workspace that's only for work can help a lot for some, but for others it doesn't make that much of a difference. Another problem is knowing when to stop working. Again, having a workspace can help, but for some it doesn't.

Everything that Sam said!

Something else to consider, taxes. With both of the work at home jobs I've had, you're considered an independent contractor and get taxed as such.

It's VERY important to keep a work space...and not anywhere near your bedroom. If you work in your bedroom, it'll become a stress area and hard to relax when it's time to sleep. I've learned this from experience too.
