Can I write my review before the item arrives if I already own the same item?

I was always curious about this and a little scared I may get in trouble. Some of the toys I have done reviews on were with the help of a friend, while my item is on the way to my home. Some items I have owned previously and broke, etc. so I will buy a new one and think to myself "Oh, I haven't done a review for this!".

Other times I will have gotten a toy as a gift (I got TONS for my bachelorette's party this summer) and I liked a lot of the gifts so much that I'm buying them as gifts for other people and doing reviews on them in the process of waiting for them to arrive.

Is this wrong and is it better to wait until my product has arrived so it doesn't look like I'm cheating or anything? I don't really find it wrong since I technically own/owned the product before. No one has said anything about it but with all the commotion of point farmers and whatnot I guess I feel a little out of place doing this.

I, personally, would wait until the actual item was in my hand before reviewing it. Especially if it was already on the way to me since with the ridiculously awesome shipping it's at most, a week, until my item gets to me. Plus that way you can double check all your statements against the item in question to make sure you didn't miss anything

Also, some products change materials over time or some other functionality. It's always best to review what's in your possession and not before.

There's also the chance of little defects and things happening, which I like to mention.

Yeah, wait until the get the product in your hands first, otherwise you're writing a review on a product from what you read on the site...not cool.

Plus, if there's a defect in the toy and you have to send it back, it really complicates the process of replacing an assignment!
