I'm hoping someone can give me some insight. I've ordered from EF about 5 times already and signing for my shipment was always free. Then suddenly, with my last shipment, I had to pay an extra $31 to get my box! I live in Canada. It doesn't make sense that all my other orders were free then this whopping fee seemingly out of nowhere. Unfortunately, EF staff wasn't able to help via a support ticket so I'm coming to the community. Has this ever happened to you? Do you know why? Perhaps it was the weight? The value? It'd be a shame if I have to stop ordering from here because of the ridiculous new fees.

International shipping issues: they happen. Here's the thing, Edenfantasys has nothing to do with the fees once it enters Canada, that's why customer service was unable to help you. I believe it has more to do with the frequency in which you order, more than anything else.

Weight is not a factor, but the declared value is. My guess is that you were over the limit for a single shipment. I haven't shipped anything to Canada in a long time so I don't know what the current limits are, but from ordering lingerie from the UK I know the US import limit for clothing has dropped to $200 . (A few years ago you could import up to $800 without fees.)

Thanks! I'll keep my orders to under $100 and see if I get any added fees.

I know that EF wasn't the issue and that it was customs. I was just hoping they had some tips on how to avoid it since they're in the biz and I imagine I'm not the first customer to wonder.

I never even thought of how hard it must be to ship internationally. I hope you figure everything out and don't have to pay tons of fees everytime

Declared value always affects customs fees. I didn't know this until I already had 3 orders on their way to Italy. Whoops!

Don't use UPS! It's not customs, not taxes, and it doesn't have to do with the value of your package. UPS charges 'brokerage fee's' for some reason I have yet to figure out.

Most of my disposable income gets spent online, through Ebay, Julep, Clinique, Amazon, etc and of course Eden, from all over the world. I have never had to pay customs, duty's, taxes or anything extra for anything, at any time, for any reason, except the few times I have had to use UPS.
The last time ups was used to send something to me (from Eden) the value of the item was 2.10 (a back-ordered item that was sent to me automatically once it was back in stock) The extra fee? 15.08!
USPS might take a little longer, but at least you know what your getting.
