Are they really as great as everyone says they are? What do you think makes the "price" of the toy?
What makes Lelo toys so expensive?

Rechargable toys are always more expensive. Lelo also has good customer service and warrantee. Also, their silicone toys have NO seams in them - a sign of good quality.

Most of those things, plus the cost of marketing.

For me it surely is everything BUT the power

Honestly it seems to be the material and the brand name :/

The Materials

Pretty much everything listed except the functions... They're not very strong but I think people will buy them regardless because of the look, materials, and hype. I work at a sex shop and have felt the strength on most of them and I'm never too impressed. Much more impressed by We-vibe products.

Quality of material, most are rechargeable, have a great return policy, etc.

They're made of good material, rechargeable, and have great warranties. The boxes and designs are always sleek. However I do think their name and status as a luxury brand definitely have something to do with the price.

The materials and fact that they are rechargeable. I have a few Lelo toys that have been in my collection for more than five years now and all are still going strong.

It's really a combination of most of these, but often times you get what you pay for. We've been happy with all our Lelo products so far and got what we expected

it's a combination of some of those features. plus, rechargeable toys & those w/ good warranties are more expensive.

The warranty. Any company that stands behind their product like Lelo does, is a quality product.
I never like the Lelo toys until they came out with the "2" line. Those suckers are darn worth the price in my opinion. The motors in them are pretty darn good. The original line... the shapes are great. But they just were not strong enough for me to get excited about.

Except for the gap in between the plastic and silicone. I wouldn't say gaps are at all a sign of good quality!

Just because toys cost more doesn't mean that are that much better. I find most Lelo's really underwhelming. Plus that gap will harbor bacteria. Not exactly my idea of Luxury. Give me Jopen any day.

It's probably mostly hype. Marketing is always expensive.
05/13/2013
I've never considered Lelo toys overpriced. You get what you pay for with Lelo. Their toys are long-lasting, high-quality, and beautifully designed.
05/18/2013
I agree, you get what you pay for. The quality is great and I like the fact that they are rechargeable.

I think Lelo's toys are absolutely gorgeous, made to last and have an excellent warranty. The luxury connotations and brand name probably help as well, but that said they aren't my favorite.
05/20/2013
I think all of that to be honest... I have one Lelo toy so far & one on the way.. Just looking at them they look so expensive and fancy.

I think a combination of branding and the fact the toys are particularly well made. No seams, good quality silicone and their powered toys just go and go and don't need to be replaced every year. The branding can't be ignored though; Lelo have built a really reputable brand and obviously that allows them to charge a higher price because there are people willing to pay it.
05/23/2013
If its rechargeable, the price goes up.
05/28/2013
The materials, the quality, the warranty, the design and the fact that they are rechargeable.

90% Brand and luxury label. I get annoyed by the mark up, because I know We-Vibe puts out totally comparable toys in quality, material, rechargeability, noise level (even more powerful, sometimes) but without the mark up. And I don't think Lelo is more attractive than other lines. (Except for the Insignia line, maybe -- but I don't hear good things about their performance.)
05/30/2013
I just think it's everything combined, to be honest.
06/14/2013
For me, the packaging, rechargeability, designs, warrenties, and the fact that it's a foreign (for non Swedish) company, so it comes across as extra fancy to some people for that reason.
