Thanks everyone.
We finally got a nice sunny day - so I had the washing machine going flat out while I have the chance.

The cut off towns around here are now running out of fuel. The local has some but they have raised their price really high (it's high enough at the best of times) but we only have enough to get through to the main town so we're forced to buy.

Apparently the range is so badly washed away in the land slide that ya just can't see where there was any road. They have to completely start a new track up but they have no idea on what to do. There is another mass lot of the range that's ready to slide so they can't touch anything down below. It's expected to take weeks before it's usable.

All food, fuel, mail etc will have to come the long way around. But the main town is still cut off so nothing can still get in.
Unfortunately being out here, we tend to get forgotten about. They are making food drops in other isolated areas but not around here.

I'm hoping tomorrow the flooding cutting three of our towns off from the main town will be clear. Other wise I have to travel all the way around..... a lot more fuel used.
But I have a sick kitty who needs a vet. I can't let her go any longer - HAVE to get through!

I'm grateful I don't have to go naked and scare everyone.... LMAO.
Just shows me how much I take normal life for granted! I should appreciate it more.

The true intensity of the floods didn't really hit home with me until today. I've had the internet cut outs and incessant rain, some of my boxes in the basement got flooded (not due to flood water, more to do with the hill the house is built on) and my nephew's friend who is visiting from the gold coast has been here for an extra week as the road closures mean he can't get home. I've been worried about shellz, but know that although things are tough and she's a bit stuck I know she is safe and in one piece.

Some of my family members live in some of the hardest hit areas but they are all safe and sound and accounted for thank god.

But the true horror has just hit our house as one of my sister's best friends is apparently missing, and his house which is right on the banks of the river is all but destroyed. She's packing her bags and getting ready to go in search of him and to try and keep his wife and kids sane and try to assist. I just feel useless as there isn't anything I can do to help any of the people effected by this complete disaster.

I'm just glad to know that all the people I know who are in the hardest hit areas are safe and pray that my sister's friend turns up. This prob isnt the best or right place to express this, but I came across this thread whilst feeling so distraught and cant seem to keep it together right now.

Yikes - I hope he is safe in one of the shelters somewhere. Hopefully he is searching for the rest of his family or did they have family/friends to go stay with?
Everyone in the CBD and suburbs anywhere near the river were told more than 24hrs before it hit, to evacuate. So I'm sure he would have left after seeing it rise - even if he had stayed for any reason. But I'll certainly be hoping V can find him safe and sound.

It's the exact place to express your distress!

Wow - that's certainly too close for comfort!
Good idea to get her out til things settle down.
There is a food storage here too - I'm an hr away from Toowoomba but because the range there, only light traffic can come through.

And our local range is out of order so we're kinda screwed here. They are only getting in basic food and milk and even that is snapped up so fast, they can't keep up with it.
I think the stations running out of fuel is a little more scary for me. There is some food around or at least there was last week - even if it's stuff ya not so keen on.

I'll find out tomorrow what's on offer at the supermarkets. Not looking forward to it!

Yeah, the road finally opened and I was able to get her to the vet last friday. She doesn't have the UTI back but she has some slight infection.
I'm totally hopeless at taking it all in when I'm stressed over my baby. Most goes right over my head and I can't concentrate.

But she is on anti-biotic paste.

Good news - the forecast was for rain all this week which would have been horrid cause the ground hasn't be able to soak up all the water yet. But then they changed it to afternoon thunderstorms and full on rain friday.
Well today it kinda came across overcast this afternoon but no rain - YAY!!!
Our road is still half flooded and water across it in one area - nothing major but the dirt is getting boggy and slippery. That sun just doesn't have enough power in it at the moment - even though it was HOT today. But I'm not complaining!!! I'd rather that than the rain at this stage.

There's a rough track down the range which they are going to organize so light traffic can come and go - finally. Cause it's going to take months to get the range stable enough to create a new road. The water has undermind it so badly that's not safe for them to do anything with it for quite awhile.

The courier will be able to travel the track they are going to open - wahooo.
I'm hanging out for my review toy package to come. It was suppose to arrive the day after the first range land slide.

As long as the rain stays away, our biggest issues are fuel and food.

Yeah, I have noticed that over the years.
We always get major US news over here. But we also have that ET news show which I like watching. I like knowing what's happening overseas.
But I have to admit, I also the American accent!!!! Very sexy!

Yeah, we never lost power here. Just had net issues cause of the ISP being in Brisbane and they had their power turned off due to safety.
Some areas still didn't have power yesterday. I'm not sure if it's back now or not. But that's a LONG time to go with no power.

No food drops out here. They are just keeping us on the basic food they can get through in small trucks that are allowed to get through the range in Toowoomba (the city that the inland Tsunami hit).
Apparently it's taking 5hrs (each way) from Brisbane to out here via Toowoomba. Which is just a joke. Normally if our local range road hadn't slid away, it would only take them close to 2hrs each way.

Last thing we need is more rain.

Lol. Do we really sound so similar to the English accent????
I rung S.D a few years ago and was kinda insulted that the person who answered thought I was a Pom.

I love the NZ accent too. My parents moved over here when I was only 2 1/2yrs old so I never got a chance to develope the accent. I have taken on some of the Kiwi pronunciations though.

I didn't get the full story when I started to freak out. The house is a wreck apparently but I got the friend who's missing mixed up.

He went out west on some kind of boys camping trip just after new years and wasn't expected to be heard from (still not sure exactly where he was going, but my geography stinks anyway) as mobile coverage sucks. They were due back on Saturday but haven't turned up so they are starting to freak out a little.

My sister left to go up there tonight, I dont know if the flood water is gone, or if all of the roads are re-opened (I know that the pacific is closed near grafton so there is a big detour.) but she's a real trooper, a complete tom boy and I know she will have a ball helping with the clean up. I just hope the friend and his mates turn up soon.

Have they been able to get food and feul through to your area shellz?? I know that the trucks are now able to get through so hopefully the shops will soon be re-stocked. I also realise how rude I sounded in my post saying that I knew you were fine and safe etc. It sounds like Im saying youve got no hardship to face, but I hope you know that wasn't my intent.

Hopefully they will be able to repair the washed out roads once the land dries out. My thoughts are with you xox

That's good that he wasn't near the home or anything like that.
If he has gone out west - there is a lot of flooding out there too which is take some time to reside so I'd say that they are just stranded - hopefully safe and dry!
On the news last week, there was a guy in Brisbane who was meant to be getting married (just this last saturday) and they had so many people flying in for it - including 50 from NSW but the poor bride was flooded in out west somewhere.
Not sure if she got there but that would totally suck!

I know the Bruce HWY was all cut off in area - I'd say that's re-opened now but there would be a lot of damage everywhere.

I know of at least 2 fuel stations in Kingaroy was able to get fuel in. I rung everywhere on friday before going through - didn't want to get stuck there. Food is just ya basics but I'll know more a little later cause we have to go through for food.
I know one of the things they got mountains of it in - is toilet paper!

No, you weren't rude at all. It's declared a disaster zone here but we are safe! I didn't take an offense at all. There are so many people who are going through 100 X worse than anyone around here. And they will be still dealing with it long after our lives get back to normal.
I'm sure they won't allow us to starve out here ... I hope - LMAO
It's all good.

My main concern was for my kitty. I don't like to let things go when animals aren't well. Besides, since losing a cat and dog both to renal failure in the past 5yrs, I'm paranoid that I'm going to lose my baby to it too.

The range is going to be months away from repair.
I don't imagine them doing anything to it until the rainy season is totally over cause it's not worth risking lives. And it's suppose to be a rough rainy season this year. Or at least 2 months of it left.

So maybe towards the end of the year, they may have it open. Although because all the trucks have to go so far out of there way to deliver food, fuel and any other heavy truck stuff to Kingaroy, I'd like to think once they can start, they won't take forever to do it like they normally do. It's all the damn food breaks those guys take. If they didn't eat every hr, they'd get sooooooooooooo much more done.

But I guess we may sound kinda close to certain Brit accents. Although I can hear theirs no worries.

We've had it easy compared to the major hit places.
Unfortunately we did lose one life around here. There are still people missing in the hardest hit places but HOPEFULLY they will be found.

whos taking the food breaks? Do you mean the truck drivers or the courier delivery guys?

Are you going to be able to get to your packages anytime soon?

Violet got up there early this morning, she was shocked by how bad the damage is. Nothing's been confirmed as yet but someone with a radio has been in touch with someone or other in the area the guys were camping and it sounds like they are up there, just stranded cause the dirt roads have all washed out. As for the house apparently there's not much left to salvage sadly, but thankfully his wife or whatever evacuated early and got the more prized possessions and such out.

All the way down here the ocean is brown, the waves look like mud, the beaches are littered with all sorts of icky stuff and the god damned mozzies are eating me alive.

I seriously don't know how u r stayin so strong girl. truly inspirational
