Now that I'm done with grad school, I can read for fun. I finished Girl with a Pearl Earring last week and then started on my current book, the Affair of the Poisons: Murder, Infanticide, and Satanism at the Court of Louis XIV.

I've been wanting to read it for a while now. As much as I've read about that period in French history, that specific time during Louis XIV's reign was only briefly mentioned. It kinda makes me want to write up my own Tudors- or Borgias-style screenplay about Louis XIV and his court. It's got all the right elements - sex, betrayal, conspiracies, murder, and fabulous clothing

I would totally watch that show! I'm fascinated by royal courts and the lives of kings and queens. I saw a bunch of books today about the Romonovs and had to stop myself from buying ALL THE BOOKS.

I just noticed that I've already replied to this post!
But right now I'm reading "The Woman in Black" by Susan Hill.
It's spectacularly creepy, and I'm really enjoying it.
