I like it all.
Too raunchy for erotica?
03/10/2012
All of them are good.
03/10/2012
I think those terms are just fine, a little more raunchy is fine with me.
03/12/2012
Raunchy terms are nice.
03/15/2012
Interesting topic. I think it's more important that the diction fits the scene. If it fits, it works. (i.e. dirty talking= raunchier the better!)
03/16/2012
If it's something you say in real life then yes, it should be in erotica. I have trouble getting into unrealistic erotica (paranormal/horror, mind control, etc.).
03/17/2012
I like it raunchy.
03/17/2012
I'd rather they err on the "raunchy" side than talk about "her delicate lady garden" or something.
03/17/2012
I like the raunchy graphic terms compared to the really abstract ones. But there is a line somewhere, and I can tell when it just becomes too gross.

I live it dirty, say it dirty and want it dirty in my real life. The "He entered her with his shaft by pressing his bulbous tip between he pouting lips" though exciting does nothing for me by comparison to the " Her pussy grasped the sides of his massive cock as she quivered and begged for him to erupt with a huge load of cum deep inside her as she thrust forward to take him as far into her depths as she could go". Or something like that... sorry. Gave myself a moment lol. Where the hell is my - oh! Ooooh...her it is

I prefer classy writing and using my imagination.

Yep, I agree with you here. Who wants to hear about his throbbing purple-headed warrior stabbing her mound of love pudding? Ick! Give me cock and pussy and I'm happy

I like raunchy and real.
04/06/2012
The slang makes it more exciting and hot if you ask me.
04/06/2012
Raunchy and slang is all fine and dandy in my book. I just hate it when everything is dumbed down or becomes excessive. I hate terms like... Va Jay Jay! I can't believe i've heard that on television!

I totally agree with this. These scenes seem to work so much better when the language used stays in line with the characters involved.

I have one character who curses regularly in his normal life, and when I write sex from his perspective, I use the wording to reflect that. I have another character with a background that includes severe sexual abuse that he's still struggling with. Using 'cock' from his perspective just wouldn't work, either for the character or for the mood that I'm trying to strike in the scenes.
What terms to use is very personal, but I would very much be careful with slipping too much into metaphor. "His love juices thundered into her love-bower" is not sexy to me. less

Anything that falls under the PWP umbrella, vulgar is good.

Depends on the writing. I generally dislike dressing it up just to avoid being crude, but if it's a historical novel and they're terms that would have been used in that time period, that's alright.
04/08/2012
I prefer if they dont talk at all.
04/08/2012
I love the use of cock and pussy. If it tries to stay classy it turns me off. Quickly.
05/12/2012
Nah I don't mind.
05/31/2012
I think "cock" is fine, but I'm not a huge fan of "pussy". It's kind of a moodkiller.
06/08/2012
I've let my language "grow" over the years lol so back in the day I would have not liked it, but now, it's all cool. The raunchier it is the better, it seems.

LMAO!!!!!!!! I love this! My kids learned to call their vaginas jay jays just cuz it seemed better than pee pees. They called penises peanuts. Now my oldest is 8 and I'm teaching her the correct terms for things, she thinks they are funny words, but she should know that it's a vagina and not a jay jay. my 4 year old still calls it a jay jay most of the time though :/ My 8 year old is pretty advanced though, I've already explained to her exactly how babies are made and she watched her sister be born so she knows where they come from. I refuse to lie to my kids about things like THAT.

I enjoy most forms of erotica, with the exception of those that refuse to use either real or crude words for sex organs. I don't care for those that use silly baby words like my absolute most hated word EVER "Va Jay Jay!" It's a vagina, or a yoni, a cunt, a pussy, etc. Even small children shouldn't be so ashamed of their body parts as to use words like Va jay jay or Pee Pee Wee Wee. [SHUDDER] You want those words in a adult story? I certainly don't.
If erotica uses proper words or nasty ones, I'm happy. If they used words that tell me the writer is sexually hung up, (like baby words) I stop reading. Va Jay Jay and "Ba doink a doink" cause me to throw books across the room and shut off TV sets.
He thrust his throbbing Pee Pee Wee Wee into her dripping Va Jay Jay, the earth moved as they began to Ba Doink a Doink... Really? Seriously? UGGHGHGHGGHH! less

I like graphic sex but I don't always like graphic slang in erotica. Sometimes that kind of language feels forced, considering the characters in a specific piece.

I like raunchy terms myself.
