The jacket of GIRLS WHO BITE is stunning, don't you think?
Yes! My daughter said it looked Lady Gaga-ish--which to her is a good thing.

I'm glad I got "Dream Lover" to review, but that cover would have made me at least consider getting "Girls Who Bite" if I had seen it beforehand. Though I haven't really read much in the way of lesbian erotica and am not sure how much I would like it.

I do plan on reading "Daughters of Darkness" after hubby finishes with it. Though from what he says, it doesn't sound like he's liking it very much, so I doubt I'll like it either.

This was my first lesbian and vampire book, and I really liked it. I like paranormal stories to begin with, and it helped.

Right? After reading the first story, I cried myself to sleep cradling my copy of Strunk & White lamenting the death of English grammar.
The thing is, Pam's book was originally published in 1993, and some of what you're seeing from the writers contemporary for that time represents the experimentation of a certain group within a certain era, just as the Sheridan Le Fanu represents the literary sensibilities of an older era. I'm the sort of geek who finds that sort of thing interesting, but I expect most folk's mileage varies.

That's assuming I don't exchange Daughters of Darkness for Girls Who Bite...

I loved both books. I wear black every day and flirt with girls...

Well, there was the vampire story in Dream Lover "Where the Heart Is". And I've read a few lesbian stories in other anthologies, but I've never read a specifically vampire and/or lesbian anthology.

Yes, I can see that.

Hubby is sitting next to me bemoaning the fact that he chose the wrong book to review.

I've read a lot of vampire romance stuff, but not really any vampire erotica. I do love other erotica though, so I was open to reading more. I was wondering what's with the 13 year old girl stuff though?

Hi Delilah, thanks for coming in. I love GIRLS WHO BITE.
Thank you for letting me know that! We all worked really hard to make it fun and sexy! It's my first stint as an editor--and so far, it's been a wonderful experience. I just wrapped up a lesbian shapeshifter antho too!

So are you planning to focus purely on lesbian erotica?

So, since I totally deviated from this month's theme---tell me what these were like! Modern, medieval?

Did their teeth stay safe for the kisses?

So who else read "Daugters of Darkness"?

It's about time I gave a taste of a different flavor from Daughters of Darkness. If even this seems a bit dated, bear in mind that Pat Califia gave us the foundation for much of what we take for granted in BDSM these days.

The beginning of Pat's story "The Vampire."
“Purgatory was fairly cowded that night. About sixty men and a score of women had assembled in the tiny club by one o’clock in the morning. Most of he women (other than one who was naked and being led around on a leash) were clad in the high fashion of the bizarre—leather skirts, spike heels, PVC corsets thigh-high boots, studded wristbands or belts, black latex evening gowns.”

Into this scene comes Kerry, looking to the uninitiated like a skinny boy. “The tight pants were tucked into knee-high boots, the sleeves on the leather shirt were rolled up in concession to the summer night, and te peaked cap was ornamented with a silver skull and crossbones on the front. The leather was te color of dried blood…A cat-o-nine-tails and two flails were threaded through the large key ring on his left hip. There was a dagger stuck in his belt behind his right hip and another, smaller, tucked in his right boot.”

From there it twists and turns, leaves bloody scars and vibrates with intensity.

Not so many left now--after giving away copies to friends, readers and the fam! But yeah, save your copies for someone who might like taking a walk in the f/f side of the road.

Honestly? I don't know. None of the stories (yet) in DoD have gone into much description past, "planting the first of many kisses on her lips".
