Molly, you say you're not working on another sequel; are you working on anything else? As I said upstream, I'd love to hear more about your bookstore days in San Francisco. Maybe a murder mystery set there and then? With underground kink?
Oh.... mystery and kink, please!

Molly, do you ever write short stories? You never know, I might get a chance to edit an anthology some time where a piece all about Annie would fit just fine.

Oh, I LOVED that scene!

I also loved the scene where he laid her down in front of the fire and kind of cherished her and served her, and then afterward he more or less said, yeah, I'll do that when I feel like it, and because *I* want to. It has nothing to do with what you want or need.

I re-read that scene all the time. Pure power exchange play.

I've just remembered one question I had. Maybe it was covered in Safe Word and i just missed it.

When Kate talks about buying Carrie at the end, who would she buy her from? Who gets the money? Who got the money from the auction? Has Carrie signed a contract letting any payments go to the association?

Going back to what Sacchi said about submissive feminism... I grew up steeped in feminism and strong female leadership role models... I could almost say that being sexually submissive to men started out as a taboo...

Actually, I would very much like to write a mystery. But it would take place in Regency England, where most of my romance novels take place. Except for THE BOOKSELLER'S DAUGHTER, which takes place in pre-revolutionary France, has off-stage action my the Marquis de Sade, and is the romance novel I think Carrie would write.

Glad you made it! You can still read it all later. Any opinions about the books in question, or D/s in general, or writing of all sorts, or the care and feeding of ponies, are welcome here.

Molly, I've read a couple of your Pam Rosenthal books and loved them. I love the Regency era. Something about the uptight clothes codes and manners, and all that passion roiling away underneath.

I haven't had a chance to read through previous posts, so apologies if this is a repeat. I just want to say that the lightness and humour, and the base in reality that I find in the Carrie books, has been a huge help to me in my own writing. So thanks for that.

I totally agree. I grew up with a wimpy mother who believed you never challenged men, and a horribly emotionally abusive step father.

I swore, at a very young age, I would never submit to men. That I was their equal in everything. And I spent much of my young life competing with them. And while that doesn't influence me as heavily now as it did then, there are still those traces of my personality left from that.

TMI lol

Hi Anneke. And bye, Kat.

And as for buying Carrie -- well, she'd be buying Carrie from Carrie -- my fiction of the association (which is really Anne Rice's fantasy in Exit to Eden) is that the slave gets the money at the end. Which Laura Antoniou makes fun of in one of the Marketplace books, maybe rightfully so, as wimpy.

The question of taboos as spurs for sex could occupy a whole book, or series, or, hmmm....anthology. What do you think, would a world completely accepting of sex and kink in any form become too bland to be fun?

Thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed them. People can find out more at link if they're interested. Not a lot of kink -- well, maybe a little. Actually the out-of-print novella A HOUSE EAST OF REGENT STREET has the most of that. I'm hoping to rerelease it next year as an ebook.

My association world is entirely accepting of sex and kink -- and full of neurotics like Jonathan. I think that's how it would work.

And the final statement i have from Molly but we can go on if we like:

And back? I do sometimes play with the idea of Carrie coming back. But it would have to be worth it. Molly Weatherfield's readers are too smart for anything less.

I think about this often, especially with regard to BDSM...things that used to absolutely thrill and excite me now seem ...normal and other things I'd never even have considered perusing... seem less risky and more exciting...

Taboo is such a fascinating subject, you are right, I think MANY books could be written on it...you should get started!

Thank you Molly, Sacchi, and all the members for such a wonderful meeting! I truly enjoyed learning all of this. I definitely think I will be getting a copy of Safe Word and finding out where Carrie's Story left off.
