As long as the weather holds, I'll be here. Can't complain to much, the rain has cooled things down a bit, if only the humidity would go away.

Just finished a tv dinner. Is it weird that the smell of the desert is stronger than the main course?

How is everyone tonight? I had a long day at work but got a good nap. If only I could get more long days like today, money is nice to have, eh?

I'm not bad. Noshing on leftover lunch for dinner, still wanting a nap. Might work on reviews after the meeting, might just sit and watch How I Met Your Mother all night.

Money is indeed a nice thing to have, only reason I'm cool with covering people's vacations at my other job lol.

Hello everybody, and welcome to the meeting!

I'm gonna give people a few minutes to trickle in, but does anybody have anything to bring up right away?

You know, not many folks nowadays want more work. Sure they complain about not making enough money but they never want to work more for it, they just want more pay.

Sometimes I could just scream.

My husband had a delivery driver at his store like that. Always complained that he didn't have money, but always called in sick, didn't show up, and would spend half the day on the phone. Not the end of the world if it's a cell, but the guy would use the store's land line so not only is he taking up a line that customers are calling but he's also tethered to a desk. He even tried to get OSHA and the building inspectors to come in and write the manager a whole bunch of tickets. The day the inspectors came by also happened to be his 3rd no call no show in a row, so he was let go for job abandonment and doesn't even qualify for unemployment now. He doesn't deserve it anyway, so I don't feel bad lol.

Ok, so when we last left off we were starting to plan our back to school party.

I have a good idea of what to include for content like trivia, but I'm of course open to ideas as well if anybody has any.

Are there any preferences for a date?

my husband is trying to get as much work as he can now that my father in law is gone. We need to cover all the rent and he no longer needs to worry about caring for him.

My husband is lucky with his work, they didn't care when he called off for 2 weeks because of my father in law being in the ICU, and then passing away. They even gave him a card yesterday on his first day back.

And it takes a lot to get this manager to fire anybody. There's a counterman there that's pretty much completely useless. He's only still there because he speaks Spanish and because otherwise there's no backup counterman. Even tho they could always call the other store for a translator and get a backup from another store... lol

That's fantastic, really. I've heard so many horror stories of crappy bosses who have let employees go for missing work even tho they have a legitimate family emergency

I have found that when you do your job and show up for work, most employers will give you the time you need, especially for situations like that.
