I can see where you are going with this...we have actually traditionally offered very little incentive for participation in the club. I'm not adverse to the idea but I want the meeting participation to be the most important part in earning some sort of gift cards ect. I know we have more activity when we had our own blog but it was a mess to keep straight. The set up we have is confusing as hell and there is a character limit which drove some of our more prolific writers away.
Maybe if we break down the submissions and allow for incomplete works this might prompt some interest in coming back next month to our readers?

dicken's stories were serials. So was the Dark Tower.
My logic is that some people, like myself, enjoy the benefits of posting something, the likes, the votes, the added followers, the comments, etc etc. stories that are 50k words, plus, mean that for all that effort, they receive very little in the way of those rewards
especially if the story is so long it's intimidating for most readers. splitting them into segments will provide the aforementioned benefits, keep the stories from being so long they're intimidating and the motivation will hopefully keep people writing. at least in theory.
The problem is that if the segments are TOO short some less scrupulous people might post segments simply for the sake of rewards, which is why i suggested a word minimum.
Finally, serial stories might hold the reader's interest more because they're ongoing and those on the forum might be able to impact the plot by making suggestions.
