My Best Friend

We go through life,
friends come and go,
but there is always one
whom best we know.

They're there for us,
through thick and thing
even when
the worst begins.

I've gone through life
trying to find
a friend like that
to stand behind.

During my searching,
I've come to discover,
my friend was right there
for my eyes to uncover

She's been with me
my whole life.
She's my best friend,
my father's wife.

My grandma's daughter,
caretaker to my brother,
yes, my best friend,
is my own mother.
