Go you for beating me to the punch.
You're welcome. Because it doesn't actually raise your blood sugar at all, and your body
expects a "reward" with sweet tasting foods, when that "reward" (the slight blood sugar rise) doesn't happen, your body continues to crave REAL sweet, sugary foods. Then you gain MORE weight.
Fifty pounds in 10 years while drinking diet pop is probably on the low end of what this stuff does to you. I'm willing to bet that she doesn't want to admit that "diet" pops are
causing the problem. She's better off with small quantities of real pop with sugar or corn syrup, but you know that. I know SO many people who don't realize this, drink this stuff and then wonder why their health continues to decline. It's really awful stuff.
I have a neighbor who lets her 3 year old drink it because she doesn't want him to "have a lot of sugar."
When I offer him water at my house, she insists on adding juice to it, because he's gotten to the point (AT THREE) where he won't drink anything that doesn't taste sweet. They are setting this baby up for a lifetime of trouble with overweight. Sad. What would be so awful about just giving him
water?
